A child of No Mans Sky, Skyrim, and Fallout falls flat with short story lines, endless tedium, and an ending that just doesn't pay off for all the effort you go through. Finished the campaign in roughly 24 hours with some sidetracking but I wouldn't recommend this game to others.

If you are into walking simulators with an artistic decor then this game is for you. Otherwise definitely reccommended to steer clear. It was a 3 hours trek of tedium to an unsatisfying conclusion. Due to the obtuse checkpoint system I ended up losing an hour of progress along the way by accidentally clicking load instead of continue, buyer beware.

Early Access Review
Having been an avid 40k and tabletop player for the greater part of two decades I figured I would give Moonbreaker a fair shot. Sadly Moon breaker is not the miniatures game for me.

I was a big fan of warmachine and other skirmish style games but the RNG elements of Moonbreaker detract from the game. There is just TOO MUCH RANDOM. The only static part of your army is the captain and this is where the similarity to warmachine is.

Kill the captain win the game. While a simple concept warmarchine also struggled with this game concept until they added additional objectives to each match. But the advantage warmachine has is that you know what units will be on the board from turn 1. The random selection of units from ten as well as the random assists means the player is going into every game mostly blind. The game would do well to remove the reinforcement system and just allow any of the 10 selected units to be deployed instead. Or better yet give the user the option to start the game with 2-3 units on the board already. So the game becomes more about resource management between units and abilities and not fighting RNGesus.

Accidentally roll all your most expensive units? Too bad you just get beat on for 4 turns until you build up energy to finally get a unit out and by then the momentum and game is lost. Roll a bad set of assists at the start? Too bad the game is lost before you even deploy. Try to do anything other than maximize damage to assassinate your opponent? well you've already thrown the game before it started.

TLDR; The game needs less random overall. More player autonomy around units on the board and to be deployed. More objectives than just assassinate the enemy captain in a game to promote list variance. More synergy around faction units and a reason to bring all of one faction. Faction lock units to specific captains so people can't just take the best of each and have to make sacrifices in crew creation. I hope the developers take some player feedback to heart so the game will appeal to a wider audience in the future.

The first week of Battlefield 2042 has made me want to go back and play battlefield 3 instead. The new specialists stray too far away from the classes, gun play feels attrocious and the best gun in the game is an SMG at 100 meters. I have encountered terrible rubber banding, invicible enemies, and invisible enemies. I have encountered vehicles randomly exploding while driving them and falling through the map. The maps are too open that you end up just running from one meat grinder to another and too few to offer any interesting differences in arenas. The portal mode is halfway decent but all of the "modern updates" to the old styles really take away from any nostalgia to be had and just turn it into BF2042 with a different rule set. I would not recommend this game to my best enemy now or anytime in the future.

Great atmosphere but too short and not very challenging. Ending leaves a lot to be desired.
