This game is so underrated and it saddens me. Yes it does have bugs and some issues, but nothing major enough to keep me from playing. I'm going to compare this game to Dying Light 1 since everyone wants to compare it to that.
Update 11/24/23:
This game continues to get better. I still believe it is better than Dying Light 1 overall, though they both offer unique experiences. If you haven't given Dying Light 2 a try, please do!

What DL1 does better:

-Dark, gritty atmosphere that did a great job at creeping me out and making me ♥♥♥♥ my pants when I heard the volatiles.
-More stable coop that allowed for full party progression (everyone who joined got to progress their story).
-Multiplayer mode "Be the Zombie" that is still popular.
-DL1 is more stable in most areas (though this is probably due to it being out for 7 years).
-The prestige system in DL1 is better than the New Game + that DL2 currently has, though the prestige system is quite shallow as well. Techland confirmed that they plan on adding a prestige system into DL2 though, so keep a lookout for that.
Honestly, that is where DL1s wins end. Not that it did anything horrible, but DL2 really just improved everything other than those five things.

Things that DL2 does better:

-The story is far, far better in DL2. No clue how anyone could think the first game's story is better, but to each their own. This story felt personal and did not slow down too much (when I feel like the first game had a lot of up and down moments). I was truly shocked and was left with my mouth open multiple times.
-The gameplay is mostly a direct upgrade over DL1. The parkour is more fluid and accessible, while also being just more fun in general. It is floaty, but I got used to the non-realistic aspects of DL2 pretty quickly. The combat with humans is much better in DL2 (but I would like more variety in DL2 as well). The overall combat though is almost a tie for me. The first game felt grittier and had more gore. The second game feels weightier and more fluid, yet it also just feels like it has less variety. It is hard to explain, but I'd say both games have great combat and neither fully win that point.
-The soundtrack is so damn good in DL2. DL1 had a decent soundtrack obviously but it doesn't hold a torch to what they did for DL2. That orchestra made a huge difference and the recording quality is much better in the second game.
-Graphics are obviously better in DL2, but DL1 still holds up pretty well in 2022.
-New events with new rewards are ongoing for DL2 when DL1 only gets old events that are on a repeating loop (though it is cool that a 7 year old game gets events at all).

After adding everything up, DL2 is the clear winner in my opinion. When this game is 7 years old, I have no doubt that it will beat DL1 in almost every category, if it doesn't already. It needs more polishing and more content, but once it is a few years old, it will probably be a gem that everyone loves just like DL1. I would rate this a 9/10, but I know that is probably a very controversial rating. DL1 is a 8.5 for me. Once DL2 is more polished and has more content, I could see it being a 9.5 or 10.
