I don't really have much to say. It kinda just sucks all around.

Not fun without friends. Even then it's iffy. I'm glad they are trying new things but this just doesn't feel fun to me. Absolutely 100% not worth the $40 price tag. Feels like a fan made mod.

Update: The game is wildly more fun after getting over the very large learning curve. Many aspects of the game are just completely different from the mechanics of Elden Ring. Playing with randoms is still extremely hit or miss, but it has really great moment. Still leaving it as a negative because I don't believe the game has enough content for a $40 price tag. This will be a great pick up when it's on sale.

Still working through it, but this game is amazing. I was almost turned off by the reviews saying the game is too hard, but I'm honestly not having trouble with it at all on the normal difficulty (actually feeling slightly overpowered at the moment and wishing big bosses had more HP so I could do full combo setups instead of killing them so quickly).

The parry mechanic is in a nice spot IMO. It's harder to parry than in games like Ghost of Tsushima, but easier than in games like Sekiro. I would say the difficulty of landing any individual parry is similar/slightly easier compared to Sekiro timing, but much less punishing if the parry is missed. The result is that I don't always hit the parries but don't feel overly punished for missing, especially since there is a dodge option which is more forgiving but less rewarding. I can imagine the higher difficulty feeling different, making parrying tighter and more required, but on the middle difficulty it feels like a satisfying mechanic. If you are worried about the parry system being too difficult, I'd say don't be. You can always build characters to be more tanky too. The game throws lots of stat reset items at you, so you won't get punished for experimenting on that front (which is very appreciated).

One thing I will say is that the game definitely has random optional encounters that are meant to be revisited rather than done right away. These are usually pretty obvious as the enemy will be NOTICEABLY stronger than anything else encountered in the area. There's no display for enemy levels or anything like that, so if an enemy is suddenly one-shotting and taking like three turns in a row? That's a good sign to come back a bit later.

Overall the game has really solid mechanics, good writing, fun characters, a good setting, and feels unique in a game industry saturated with remakes and samey feeling titles. It's like a JRPG with proper pacing that doesn't make my ADHD want to explode.

Early Access Review
It's just not as fun as the first one. I get things will be smoothed out over time, but core systems are lacking in ways that I don't see being fixed any time soon. Not really worth the $30 when PoE1 is right there and completely free.

Updating to say they lied about maintaining PoE1. Completely on brand for GGG as they have lied in the past too. If you are holding out hope that PoE2 will fix a lot of the non-bug problems then you are wrong. Stop supporting this garbage.

Update: Hey look new patch and EVERYTHING IS WORSE. Do something that's actually worth your time, not this.

Just beat the last boss. Save your money and don't bother. Ignoring the terrible performance, the enemy design is horrible. I beat all of the base game and thought it wasn't that bad, but this one just goes too far with enemy aggressiveness to the point of feeling unfair. This has multiple bosses that make pre-nerf Radahn, Malenia, and Orphan of Kos look like a joke. And yes, I used the Scadutree Fragments. My issue is not with the damage values, but with the oppressive design of the fights. They just aren't fun. Watch some fights on Youtube or something to determine if you think you'll like it before you buy.

Update: After some patches, things are smoother. I still feel like the open world is just empty and kinda boring, but worth the buy if you really like Elden Ring. Still pretty meh overall compared to the base game imo.

It's basically D&D 5e in video game form. Very well made. Good story, good characters.

Honestly chill with some nice little lovecraftian horror mixed in. Just really well made and enjoyable.

Oozes charm. Well crafted. Fun fight mechanics. Cute animals. Honestly one of the more enjoyable games I've played in recent memory. Definitely recommend.
