DUSK is a really fast paced and entertaining shooter with a wonderful gunplay and retro graphics.
And while I must admit that i haven´t played any old shooters before DUSK I tried to play as much of them after I finished Episode 1.
So I will just list what I like and dislike about this game so far.(Please Notice I reviewing only the first two Episodes of the game)

So to start of with the good DUSK has a real fast and precise movement that really makes it fun to rush in the enemies and dodge their attacks with sliding away. You dont really want to stay far away and be safe like in many modern shooters but to go in close and finish them off with the Supershotgun.

Speaking of the weapons: you can zoom with every weapon except the granade launcher which uses the right mousebutton to let the granades explode.
The weapon models are well made and sound very good. You really have the feeling you are shooting a gun and not some toy.
With 10 weapons you have a real wide variety of guns to use on the different enemies.
They range from shotguns to powerful hunting rifles and the devastating riveter.

A wide arsenal of guns just makes sense if you have different types of enemies you can shoot with and DUSK provides them.
You start off against the weak melee enemies with chainsaws and at the end of episode 2 you face some really strong rocket shooting robots. They all look good and work well even if especially the moose like creatures often run against walls if they cannot find the direct way to the player.
The only enemy that really doesnt make fun is the stationary turret. It´s just standing there and shooting bullets which is pretty lame and in my opinion unecessary.

Im not sure how should I rate the levels because there are some great ones like the first in episode 2 or ghost town in episode 1 but then there are some levels that i guess are supposed to be scary when your flashlight is broken but they just slow you down and leave the best parts of DUSK out. It´s just annoying to crouch down narrow ways to get a key.
So i hope the levels get more open stop trying to be scary in episode 3.

To be honest the game is really short and you might need just around 90 minutes for your first playthrough of one episode or even less if you know the levels. But somehow i managed to spend over 35hours in the first two episodes in the preorder version. That replayability is where DUSK shines you can just jump over the head of a cultist again and again shot dodge and it still feels good. That is also why i have such a huge problem with the slow "scrary levels" even if it scares you once if you replay the level to get sectrets or just for fun its pretty boring because you know where enemies are and where you have to go.

Just to mention it the multiplayer is fine but i do not like to play these games online in general so I cant say anything about.
The Endless mode is perfect for 20mins of fun in between because you have a small map with many waves of enemies and no boring sequences just pure action.

So all in all I really like DUSK so far even if the second episode disappointed me a bit and i would really recommend it if you like fast paced shooters where its the only goal to reach the end of the level no matter how you do it
