I understand that this is just an excuse to tie this one up into a "Definitive Edition" Bundle with the rest of the Trilogy, but y'all better not have this half-assed development ethic for Old Country.

Game stutters while driving, NPCs running into walls and getting stuck, flashing lights in certain parts of the map, "remastered" face models make them look like wax figurines that lack any emotions and their expressions and eyes completely bug out in certain cutscenes, audio bugs and unfortunately many more...

This game's art style, aesthetic and story aged like fine wine and didn't need any of this so called "polish".
Thankfully, 2K didn't pull a Blizzard on us and lets us play the Classic version of Mafia II, which is probably the only saving grace for this game after the whole Definitive shenanigans.

This is in regards to Zombies specifically

I might be one of the few people who do like MWZ to an extent. It feels like a smoother, more thought out Outbreak that runs on a better engine with a cool extraction shooter spin.

But whoever thought to lock the only 3 story cutscenes, which themselves are lacking any relevant substance to *any* storytelling, behind 40+ hours of grinding 'Overwatch-like' challenges such as "Kill A with B a 100 times while X and Y" is nothing short of a moron. If you're developing a Zombies mode for a 70$ game and this is the best you could come up with for player retention, I'm seriously questioning whether your 4000 dev team should've dedicated the time to this mode in the first place. Next time, just admit that there's no story content instead of making the "story missions" an unbearable slop.

Hello Games releases No Man's Sky. It's buggy, empty, filled with lies and broken promises, and content that never made it to the final game.
Sean Murray comes up on stage, announces that they're dedicated to fixing and improving the game with free content updates.

8 years later, the game is almost unrecognizable from its initial version, filled to the brim with insane content, better multiplayer, quality of life, overhauls, VR support and visuals that will easily take your breath away.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is how you fix your game and your reputation. You take it up the chin, no giving up, no pressure by a money hungry publisher, just work, and good work at that. Is it ideal that the game released in such a bad state? No, but I have nothing but respect for what they've managed to turn it into anyway, and with no additional cost for the customer. Legends.

I named my character after Wei Shen from Sleeping Dogs. Not even 2 minutes into starting my fresh life as a criminal, I got greeted by a cop who talked me into becoming a police informant and snitch on other people.

I still don't know what I'm doing, but it's good money.

it's now over 3 months since the original release and the promised optimization patch for this game still is nowhere to be found.

game still experiences stutters, crashes and frame drops depending on location and the amount of VFX present at the moment, so if your PC is slightly off the Todd Howard charts, don't even bother.

It's really sad to see people's inability to learn or adapt to any new situation, especially in a game which is deliberately difficult.

On the other hand, it's extremely hilarious to see those same people complain about "everything two-tapping" them, in an end game DLC zone, while ignoring the one player progression mechanic the game told them about at the very beginning, in and RPG with dozens of craftables, consumables, spells, incantations, armor sets and talismans that boost/negate damage up to 70%+, in a game where throwing a ceramic pot deals 2k damage and debuffs the target.

Don't let the "Mixed" reviews fool you. This DLC is awesome, and has in many ways even improved upon the base game which in my eyes already was a 10/10. Visually, gameplay-wise, and musically, this DLC is start to finish an absolute work of art.

If Payday is GTA, then Crime Boss is the Saints Row of the heisting category.
  • 16$
  • Includes all DLC for free
  • Fully fledged campaign mode
  • Multiplayer with INSANE quality of life features and mechanics that puts Payday 3 to absolute shame.
Just to name a few QoL if you're interested:
holding 2 bags without a perk but you're slower and sidearm only, being able to fill your bags with anything until you fill it up, every mission or heist has multiple randomizers that slightly change the objective location or map structure, you can pro-actively interact with a drill to triple its speed but can break it in the process, being able to grab weapons off the ground from killed enemies or even randomly scattered around the map (yes, this also means juggernaut and special enemy weapons), bots are not just cosmetic but have a command system to loot, grab and deliver bags, and sometimes do way more than players. The bots are also decently customizable with a "team" system where you can keep earning a bunch of preset characters with preset weapons, perks and rarities that enhance the experience even further. And did I mention that you can SWITCH between all your Bot characters as well as your main character? So if you're downed, you can just switch to a bot and do the rest of the work yourself. Oh, and Offline Mode is a thing here as well.

While the game still feels like a fever dream with a less serious tone, with an abundance of celebrity features like Danny Trejo, Chuck Norris, Michael Madsen and music such as Freestyler by Bomfunk play in the background that frankly make me feel old now, there is no doubt that the dev team have actually put work into a lot of the stuff here. And with their most recent competitor setting fire under their own feet, considering its the only other heist game besides Payday, it should absolutely be on your watchlist, especially for a price that is unheard of in today's market
