Not sure I can recommend this game.

Pros -
x good story for the first hour or so
x ship customisation is good
x I actually like the space battles (although there aren't enough random ones and the skill levels seem weird - once you upgrade your ship you don't really have much of a challenge).
x I did enjoy the mantis quest line (this might be one of the only ones I did enjoy and feel well rewarded for).

Cons -
x Loading screens everywhere - I can understand possibly the planet loading screens and picking where to land but why have them inside a solar system and i was disappointed that a planet wasn't 100% open.
x Faction Quests - these are barebones compared to Skyrim, the length of the quests, the character building and rewards all fall flat. - there is arguably less of an effect of the quests than Skyrim too (e.g. if i go with the crimson fleet surely i should be wanted by the other factions regardless of what i do? or even a pirate hunter?) - even on skyrim if you became a vampire you were hunted.
x skill points - skill points aren't a bad idea but there is way to much there some off these should have been done via levelling up that individual skill to unlock the next crafting recipe etc. (without needing the skill points).
x not enough unique locations
x cities are too small and don't have enough unique stuff going off.

Summary -

Overall there are some good mechanics in the game but these are let down by poor supporting systems, poor quest/story lines. I feel that once mods become more prevalent they may end up fixing most of Bethesda's mistakes.
