Game is decent. Definitely feel the badassery we all felt in B2 here. Story is okay so far. I like the way they did upgrades to inventory and ammo, but hate the new UI. Have to manually sort inventory every.. single.. time. Performance is meh. I literally have the recommended specs and running it at 2k getting around 30-60fps with VSync and DLSS on, but have occasional dips to low 20s and some stuttering when entering a new area (assume precaching the region). I imagine a couple of patches to clean up some code and optimize some environments/effects, it'll get better.

I'm not completely on board with a "buy now!" rating that steam has, but I do want to let people know that the game is able to run without a "NASA computer" like some others say. Give it a couple of days and see what Gearbox says about the optimization. Make your decision next weekend, or wait until a sale.

Demo doesn't do it justice. Played the demo for 10 minutes, and go nope. Meant to remove it from the wishlist.. So glad I didn't. I've had two sessions with it at around 2 hours total and have "unlocked" what I think to be half of the weapons in the base game. I say unlocked, because there is progression. Each kill and level nets you cash. Each headshot counts toward a multiplier for that cash earned. Some levels have bonus objectives to shower you with even more cash for gruesome kills. All that sweet green lets you buy weapons to use or to upgrade stats. Once you own a weapon, you can even take it over to the stasis table and weld other weapons on it. A bayoneted M16A1 is very OP.

It's comparable to Hard Bullet, but no where near the jank imo. I've only had one jank so far. It happened when an atom from my bayonet touched an atom from a bad dude's colon, because it launched me into low earth orbit in half a second. I was laughing too hard to care about what nebula my M16 was flying through, though, because as soon as I let go, I was teleported back to my last position, which was apparently a pivot man in between five dudes. Nothing a swift punch to a face and grenade at the feet didn't solve.

Dev if you read this, two asks: 1) make scopes a little bigger, hard to get the correct eye relief. 2) (might not need to do the 1st if this works better) stock collision is a little finicky. Can't seem to get the sweet spot in between reaching out like I'm shooting a handgun, and "now I'm in tactical mode, because my rifle just canted for me." Great game. Will get dozens if not hundreds of hours myself. Will continue my ritual of finishing a map, gathering the leftover bodies and piling them, then dropping a grenade in the pile and enjoying the best fireworks display this year.

Base game + roll back to 4.12.2 + B.A.T. + DGEN Patch = 765 dynamic campaigns. Don't be fooled by the time. I've spent well over 1000 hrs growing up on IL-2 Sturmovik from back in the day and Steam doesn't count the hours in B.A.T. If you're looking for a cheap flight sim with infinite replayability, please do yourself a favor and get this. IL-2 Great Battles wishes it was this good.

As a fan with over 1.5k hours in Op Flashpoint CWC/Resistance and Arma 1/2/3, I have to recommend this title based mostly on the fan boy bias.

Each title when they released caused a bit of euphoria and surrealism that always took a long while to wear off. From the OFP demo, to the alpha release of Arma 3 back in like 2013.

Reforger is no different. The graphics amaze me. The framerate is butter smooth. The general feeling of unit handling (movement, jumping, climbing) feels real.

This being said, it is very obviously pre-alpha.. there are visual glitches, freezes, and I haven't been able to join a server yet (sync messed up before initial launch, add 2 hrs to this review time) due to the same issue 75% of the playerbase has. There's also not a lot of content here yet. 3 factions, about 9 units /faction, 6 vehicles for 2 factions, and a few basic assets. Also the icons in the inventory remind me of dead matter's laughably low quality pictures.

Finally, I'd just like to point out that even though this is bare bones, there is 12 months of guaranteed support for this. That means more features, units, improvements, etc. BI has always taken care of its players, and I don't see anything here that suggests otherwise. So for the moment I'm rating this recommended because of the other side of people that expect a finished playable product when the build is v.09.x

Purchase with the expectation of more polishing. I got in during the early playtest days and it was a janky mess. But during the playtest the dev released updates about twice a week adding features and polishing old ones. It's a very ambitious game. With time, I can see this becoming a true spiritual successor to the Rainbow Six series.. the original ones. The only negative I have for the moment is the AI, both friendly and enemy. Sucks having OPFOR fire over 90 rounds at my guys while they stand there looking at them (although this could be my ROE settings). And it also sucks to have CQB turn into a tale of fire superiority over a doorway.

On the bright side, the dev seems to be doing right by people who have invested in the previous title by making this one free for them. I'm content with the purchase for the game and supporting the dev.

Learned AH-94 functionality in preparation for the AH-64, but I can already tell I'll play this more. The physics feel great. The weapons pack a punch. The new controls (lasing, slaving, cms, etc.) are a bit rough to figure out at first, but once the muscle memory is there it's second nature. Only thing that made my brain hurt was zoomed HMD TADS. The price is well worth the content. BD, job well done.

This and H3VR remain the best VR games. Update 10 is one giant leap nearer perfection.

First and foremost I want to address the primary topic of most of the reviews. I run a 2080 Super with an i7 9700 with the game running from an HDD and utilize the game's auto graphic set up with consistent 100+ fps. I tried using the GeForce Experience optimization (enabling raytracing, increasing most graphic quality to Ultra from Very High) and noticed my fps dropped to around 50. No big deal, just reverted to old settings and continue playing.

Is performance a problem in this game? It depends solely on the individual. For those people who want to live vicariously through a protagonist's eyes in a world more beautiful than the one they live in, I'm sure it is a problem. For the rest, like me, who just want to play a good game and couldn't care less about how that ambient wasn't occluded enough, it certainly isn't an issue.

On the gameplay. I enjoy the hell out of it. It's a linear sandbox. You always have a few things you're progressing to, but you can complete them in any order or style. I was anticipating the deaths to be stressful to the point of not wanting to take risks, but they can be productive as you usually carry over new information like a new path or method of completing a task.
