Ive been addicted to this game since I got it. Yes, you cant save in the middle of a run, but you are in control of how long they are and can leave whenever. Yes, the performance leaves a lot to be desired, but the devs released 3 day one patches including performance increases, so I'm sure it will get better, but oh my god I love this game. Its so immersive, the core gameplay loop is fantastic with satisfying with steady progression, the enemies are reminiscent of SCPs, the voice acting and plot are actually decent and does a good job of guiding you through the story while still letting you to explore, there are SO many unique and creative mechanics like car quirks that sometimes appear and you have to diagnose, and there is a difficulty setting for nearly every other complaint i've seen about the game. You can completely turn off losing items on death, damage to car parts, turn on infinite fuel and free repairs, all with ZERO penalty, even in the middle of a run. The only one that disables achievements is turning off player death, which is fair. I am very excited to see where this game goes

Im so frustrated with this game. It has so much potential to be a genre defining, but unfortunately it has the laziest and most money hungry indie dev team ive ever seen. There are a ridiculous amount of bugs and UI glitches that literally seem like a typo in the code and fixable in 10 minutes, making this seem more like a highschool project than an actual game. That would be forgivable if they make even the slightest effort to fix them, but instead of spending some time fixing their actual game, they are pumping out half baked DLC left and right, having just announced 4 new DLC coming out next year. I dont know how these devs play this game and go "yeah, this is good, lets add even more." One QA tester could probably spot 90% of these glitches that have been in the game since launch. This whole game just feels like a half-assed asset flip that got lucky. FIX YOUR DAMN GAME.

This game is incredible. When I bought the game for a measly $5, I wasnt expecting much, and honestly my first go around, while I enjoyed the game, I thought it was pretty shallow. Do not be fooled, there is a lot more depth to the game than meets the eye. You unlock entire gameplay changing mechanics as you progress which take this from being a fun novelty game for a couple of hours, to being an insatiable addiction that you are determined to 100%. On top of it being a great game already, the developers are CONSTANTLY adding loads of new content and QoL improvements, which is incredible for a $5 game. I genuinely got excited when I discovered there were DLCs, not only because they too are a steal and add an incredible amount of content, but because I had another way to throw more money at the developers. I genuinely dont think there is any other way you can spend $5 and get more enjoyment. Just buy it.

It's a slow start but as Todd said, the more you put in, the more you get out of it. First 5 hours it was just okay, but after 20 it's on track to be my favorite game of all time. Just make sure you have the right expectations when going into it. It's not No Man's Sky or Elite Dangerous, it's Fallout but in space. Space is merely the backdrop to the great world building and engaging story. The greatest feeling comes from starting a story mission, getting sidetracked and suddenly you're 6 hours deep into a side quest and have no idea what you originally came there to do, but you're having a blast anyway.

This is the epitome of colony builder, and in my opinion, should be the new standard for any future games in the genre instead of Banished.

The good
  • The attention to detail is next level. The houses and buildings will slowly grow plants/flowers in their yards after they're built, if a bear runs by your barn the cows will escape and need to be captured, and you'll sometimes notice geese flying north/south depending on the time of year. The sounds effects are subject to the doppler effect from camera movement for christs sake. You can tell hours were spent on small details that hardly anyone would notice.

  • I thought that the desirablility mechanic for houses would be annoying, but I found it actually is a great way to encourage more interesting cities. I have hardly any intrinsic creativity in these kinds of games, and usually resort to grids of houses, but needing to fit decorations and entertainment buildings near houses led to me creating more interesting and visually appealing "neighborhoods" with hardly any grid structure. Figuring out how to fit parks and pubs alongside houses ended up being one of my favorite parts of the game.

  • The balance is so good. Not once did I get annoyed or feel like the resource management was tedious, which is surprising given the amount of materials and sub-components in the game, and the resources you're juggling change as you progress in the game since some only unlock as you build the building to produce them. i.e. later in the game, food isnt as big of an issue, but now you have to worry about entertainment/luxury items.

  • The progression feels great. I never felt like it was dragging or that I was simply waiting around. I very rarely went above 1x speed because there was always something to do and a new milestone was always around the corner.

  • Personally im not very picky about music in games, so take this with a grain of salt, but I find it fits the game very well and provides a nice atmosphere.

  • As someone who rather unfairly judges games by their graphics, this game is beautiful

The not so good
  • I desperately want there to be more tiers of buildings/town center, although this game is early access and the devs seem very active so im sure this will change in the future. Even as it is I think it is well worth the price, and will only get better

  • With the defualt settings, the random events are kinda meh. Fires are a total non-issue from the beginning, sickness is too easy to deal with (I never have more than two people sick with 250+ pop and I rarely have to enable my one healers house), and dealing with raids is too expensive both in labor and gold to have a outposts and barracks staffed year-round for something that happens once every few years (in the early game, at least) A warning with time before a raid that gives you time for guards to get weapons would be an easy fix.

I absolutely cannot wait to see where this game goes, because even in early access, this is the best game in the genre and one of my favorite games of all time.

My favorite factory building game by far. I only wish there were more long-term goals beyond the usual "look at next tier of science, build supply chains for each material, add more research centers." Once I built my first dyson sphere, I kinda just stood there and went "now what?" That could just be a me problem because I lack intrinsic motivation to expand just for the sake of expanding, but I need a reason to expand, and once you build your first dyson sphere, there isnt really any external force making you want to expand to other systems or make more, which seems like a waste considering the dozens of other star systems you can go to with their own unique planets. Beyond setting up simple smelting operations for the few resources not available in your home system, I never went to 90% of the other systems and only ever visited those few systems a couple of times just to expand the output. I would love for a reason to build a sphere around a black hole, for example, but right now the only reason you have to do that is because it looks cool, which isnt enough to motivate me. Thankfully the upcoming combat system looks like it changes that by adding a whole new external pressure to the game, because I really want to sink hundred of hours into this game, but I feel like ive already seen everything it has to offer "only" 74 hours in, compared to the hundreds of hours of steady progress available in games like Factorio.

I havent seen my wife and kids in 3 days. I lost my job after not answering by bosses calls. My eyes have almost completely dried out after not blinking for so long. All I can dream about is the symphony of mortars and cannons raining down on the creeper. 10/10

Managed to take the first game and flawlessly transition it to 3D. Added just enough where it seems even better than the first game and easy to sink countless hours in the game with friends
