(Which is basically just doing the exact opposite of whatever the hell you're doing and planning to do next, trust me.)

I was planning on writing a big review about why I stopped playing this game back in March 2023, and explain in detail my issues with the increasing monetization and incredibly overpriced real money deals for more than cosmetics, but honestly, there's no real point.
This company did that with their previous Idle game, which I used to played a ton, and when this one became the focus, they eventually did the same, and they just kept adding on. The battlepass was too much, but I paid a couple of times for it because I wanted to play and like this game. Then came some more weird, daily and weekly cap missions for a new buff shop that you could only get for a limited time, and that just made the game suffocating to play, to try and balance everything. And that's before whatever they added and that made the community leave in droves and change the scoring so much.

This isn't going to change for the better, and honestly, neither Codename nor WotC deserve the money for how they're exploiting this IP's popularity with this very unoptimized and resource consuming non-Idle idle.

Good game. ACT 1 is an almost perfect game by itself, but it unfortunately loses steam as you proceed. ACT 3 by itself has a lot of issues and redundancies, and the town gives an... empty feeling, with almost no one really interacting with you, and the quest beats are a lot more finnicky and unpolished, but it isn't "bad" per se, just worse.

I still can't believe this game is as great as it is. I've been following this series since before I was a preteen, (which means I was far younger than I probably should have for such a thing), and played through everything there was to offer. The Rumble, the Interactive, the Madness Day games that popped out, and finally the Classic Project Nexus.
Then, things died down a lot and, well, this series was forgotten. Maybe rewateched once a year or two, for nostalgia, maybe some hype for the sudden new animations Krinkels put out. And in the meanwhile, this game was announced, and mentioned every couple of times.
Well, so was Sonny, so was Marduk, and they were both very disappointing failures.

And then, this dropped last year. And ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is good. Even if some things are rough around the edges, even if there's still a couple bugs here and there, even if Story Mode in Madness difficulty is a bloody dumb nightmare, it's still a great, fun story, with an additional Arena Mode that provides a ton of different ways to go through it, while also establishing some timelines with the animation series, and even addressing some plotholes.

Meanwhile, it's still actively being worked on, with new things (especially for Arena, for now) every now and then popping up.

So, play this game. Do the story mode. Then go rewatch the series. Then do the Arena a few times, with different imprints. Then rewatch the series.

Madness was required. Madness was acquired.

Can't believe how amazing this game became after the whole debacle at its launch.
