This game is a dumpsterfire, especially on Linux through proton. I don't even want to know how it is natively. I wanted to love this game. I wanted to keep it. But ♥♥♥♥ me running - Why is it that the controls can't be rebound onto a custom controller? This isn't even a Linux problem! I wasted 5 hours trying to get the controller to be recognized.

"But you can use Steam Input!"

That doesn't work. Origin hijacks overlay access from Steam and that kills Steam Input if it can't hook into the Direct3D renderer.

"Why are you using Linux? Proton isn't perfect."

The implementations of controller support in Proton are sufficient enough to be on par with native Windows. I've played other Windows games with this controller and had *no* issues. The game from what little time I spent actually in it (2 hours including in menu) The Controller is a generic non-360 controller. Had I known it only supported the 360 controller, I wouldn't be writing this right now and I wouldn't have bought it in the first place.

I also had to deal with steam ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ the bed because of me installing a alternate input method (sc-controller) that would emulate a Xbox controller ( And even then, THAT didn't work!)

It's insulting to see that NFS, the franchise I grew up playing, doesn't consider the fact that people use other kinds of controllers and lets us bind them accordingly! It's not even the fact I'm using it on a unsupported OS - I knew that territory when I bought it and I checked with ProtonDB to check if it worked for others!

One job. You had one job. How do you ♥♥♥♥ up controller support? Jesus ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ christ.
