It's rare that a game can hold tone so serious and depressing but still be self aware and have a sense of humour at the same time. In Sound Mind succeed in this and is one of the better games I have played this year! Gameplaywise it's like a survival horror fps title but it's tone, atmosphere, characters and story remind me of wacky movies like Planet Terror. It's hard to describe it any diversely without spoiling something.
So, do yourself a favor: Don't read any reviews or watch any videos about this game before playing it. Trust me. It's good.
Extra points for soundtrack because it is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awesome!

Hrot resembles Quake sooo much but it still does it's own thing. Respect!

If you happen to like 3rd person action shooters with over the top campy plot and super villains, then Resident Evil 4 might just rock your boat. Fans of the original trilogy and survival horror in general should not waste their time on this.

Milo and the Magpies is super relaxing light point 'n' click adventure about a little cat named Milo who is trying to find his way home after getting turned around by an unfortunate encounter with some pesky magpies. It has beautiful hand drawn backgrounds and balmy soundtrack. Puzzles are mostly easy but there is one or two head scratchers as well.
This charming little game is totally worth it's price!
And those magpies weren't so pesky after all.

Resident Evil 7 launched back in 2017 and despite it's overwhelmingly positive reviews across the globe I just recently came around and finally played it in 2022.

Let's get the obvious out of the way first. Yes, it's a good game. Yes, it's Resident Evil to the core. Yes, it's in 1st person perspective but even as a RE purist I have to admit that it was a great design choice. Yes, everybody even slightly interested in survival horror genre should play it. And no, you don't have to be familiar with Resident Evil's lore to enjoy this title.

Now that being said, let's talk about some things I wasn't so hyped about.
I said it's Resident Evil to the core which also means that there are plot holes, silly writing, two boss battles are beyond frustrating and there is downright stupid design choices especially near the end. Like Capcom rushed RE7 out or something. 2/3 in the game and it becomes a power fantasy. You get so many resources, bullets, guns and healing items leading up to the point where all suspension is gone because you can just run'n'gun everything in sight with ease. I have yet to try RE7 on the hardest difficulty, but what I've heard and read so far is that the end game plays pretty muchly the same. What a shame because first 2/3 of RE7 is like a beautiful mixture of everything that made the original Resident Evil trilogy so great. However these are just minor annoyances otherwise in a solid survival horror package, so take my words with a grain of salt.

RE7 may turn little stale towards the end, but overall it's fantastic "reboot" for the franchise after RE5 and 6. Resident Evil 7 is absolutely pure "Resident Evil experience" mostly in it's good sense and it delivers some great survival horror regardless of player being already familiar with the franchise or not.

Sequel for To the Moon. Same premise and two familiar doctors but different patient and life story.
I think I liked the first game more. It had much stronger emotional impact on me, but nonetheless this is a worthy sequel for sure. It really is a thought provoking experience for a short "visual novel" as I'd describe this. Maybe even more in a way than it's predecessor was.
It's really hard to compare or tell more about these two games without spoiling crucial plot points and themes.
Finding Paradise is dirt cheap and definitely worth your money and time.

To the Moon is a pixel art "point'n'click" (there's hardly any puzzles) adventure about carrying out dying wish for an old man. It's all about the story really. There's not so much actual gameplay but that didn't bother me because I was instantly invested in characters and the story To the Moon tells.
I'd describe it as being a video game parallel for movies like Inception and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Soundtrack blends well in the game and is hands down one of the best I've ever heard.
I paid under 3 euros for it on sale, and this was total steal for the quality To the Moon offers.
It's definitely worth your time and money even when it's not on sale!

Celeste is insanely challenging pixel art 2D platformer about a young woman struggling to overcome her insecurities. From gameplay perspective it's like Ori but on steroids. Somehow Celeste feels fresh despite these types of games have been around since the 80's. Everything is just on point. Atmospheric soundtrack, beautiful art style, responsive controls, not too complicated mechanics, well crafted levels and heartwarming story.
I thought Ori and it's sequel were hard but ♥♥♥♥ me. This has to be the hardest game in history.

Lighthearted 2D puzzle platformer for 2 players. Puzzlewise It's not as complex as other puzzle focused games but don't let this fool you. Shift Happens still offers challenging moments and great fun to be had. Single player mode is included as well but co-op is clearly the way it's meant to be played.

Tormented Souls honors Alone in the Dark, Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
Fixed camera angles, limited resources and saves, interconnected mansion, puzzles, backtracking, jump scares, multiple endings, bad voice acting, moody soundtrack and more.
This is probably the best old school survival horror experience you can have in 2020's.
