Decent JRPG story. The character relationships are what makes this game, this series, shine.

Combat is ok at first.
There are boost strikes, which allow you to interrupt a spell, knock an enemy out of the air, stop a charging enemy, ensnare a fast enemy. You have to be really fast against charge attacks with it, however, when someone enters overlimit it zooms in and prevents you from doing the boost strike for a second. Which on the harder monsters is enough time for a charging creature to kill your AI party.
Also when your companions do their big overlimit finisher it resets the enemy position. So if you downed them by correctly using a boost strike their position is reset and you get less damage and they're able to attack.
The game sacrifices tight combat for a cinematic experience. Trying to do what FFVII remake did, but making the combat very annoying in the process.

TLDR: Character development and relationships 10/10. Story 7.5/10 Combat 4/10
