No 21:9 UW resolutions in 2022.

There even is ultrawide support, but they decided to put black bars as an overlay to force 16:9, even if the game is rendering in 3440x1440p!!!

Game itself is probably a masterpiece, but this makes it even worse.
Please Fromsoftware, remove those artificial restrictions.

If they patch this overlay out and allow native 21:9 resolution, I will edit the review, but this PC-port is unacceptable after QLOC did such a good job with Dark Souls Remastered.
How can an outsourced project like DS:Remastered have such common features like UW resolutions and a game from the origin studio in 2022 is disabling its features wirth artificial restrictions?... What were they thinking!?

Edit: It IS one of the best games Ive ever played and it hurts that I still have to leave the thumb down for the lack of UW support.

Still one of the best games of all time imo.
The remastered version looks beautiful and comes with native 21:9 support.
The game is 10/10.
Unmatched world design, hard difficulty that always feels fair and a unique art style making this game a master piece.

All Out Warfare;

I really like the chaos of 128 players and more vehicles than ever before, while i would still have the alternative to play smaller maps, with 32-64 people and only a few or no verhicles for variety, without needing to host it by myself via portal or hope that somebody has an server live with the exact modifications im looking for in that moment.

Also I am one of the few people that LOVE the decision they made with canceling the old class restrictions. Its so awesome you can adjust your gadget (RPG, medpack, ammobox, repair-tool, AA-missile etc.) freely, without beeing forced to play weapons you dont like.

It actually does the opposite of what many critizise, as it even increase the teamwork and objective based playstyle, because in old titles people chose their class by weapon, not the class that is maybe needed in this situation.

Now you can play whatever weapon you want and still pick the gadget that brings most for the team.

I dont like the cringy design of some specialist, acting like this isnt a dystopian war of surviving as they joke around with edgy voice lines after the match. I have no problem that they implement lgbtq etc. specialists for inclusion, but I dont think its necessary.

I would prefer anonymous soldier models in female/male body shape and full uniform with facemask like the BF3 model. So you can decide and imagine for yourself whatever is under this facemask/helmet/uniform. But this is not really an issue for me the way it is now.

Hazard Zone:

Hazard Zone is interesting and actually has its flavor but it really needs some kind of long term motivation, like special skins or other rewards you only unlock by playing hazard zone. You earn ingame currency to buy weapons for hazard zone that you actually can play in every mode anyways. But with some tweaks and rewards it could become a good new addition to BF.

Portal:

Portal is an insanely awesome concept and could be the long time holder of this game if they also improve it. The amount of possible customization is already fine and they confirmed to add more old maps, weapons etc.
But they really have to implement a better server browser with sorting/filtering functions, because the amount of possible modifications are so wide, that you cant search or find the exact thing you are looking for. (e.g. 2042 vs 2042 rush on metro 64 players)

It also needs some kind of "favorite list", where you can save portal modes you enjoyed the most, so you would find those servers again.

_______
Conclusion:

Overall I really enjoy the game.
Its not finished and has a rough start, but the basic structure is awesome.
It will need several months of polishing and should have released as a early access for the upcoming time, but if your hardware can handle it and you can live with some minor problems, you can have a great time with the game.

I know games shouldnt be in such a state if they release it as finished product, but sadly thats the world of publishers for over a decade now. And DICE already showed with the other titles, that they will polish the game.

If you have doubts, just wait a couple of months. If you dont fear to buy a decent but expensive "early access", give it a try.

Edit: Thought they would fix the game quicker, but it actually seems that Dice needs 6 months only to implement a scoreboard. Game has still huge problems and they need way too long to fix it...

Devs seem to correct their fault slowly... there is a lot work to do to in the long run, but for 40€ its worth the money and i had a great time so far.
