Man, oh man. What a ride this game was. Yakuza 0 was my introduction to the Yakuza series; I really like Japanese culture (so, maybe I am a little bit of a weeb?) and I also like crime dramas. So, it was a no-brainer for me. But, man, when the genre "crime drama" was coined, they were not ready for a thrilling experience like this one.
I'm taking the liberty of choosing crime drama as the main genre, but this game is so much more to just simply encapsulate it there. It's wholesome, it's funny, it's thrilling and it has a lot of heart underneath it all. I've spent around 140 to finish the main storyline and I still have lots of side activities to complete in order to get the 100% completion, so I imagine it will take me some extra hours to unlock every achievement.
The story is amazing, switching from one main character to another and see their side of the story and how the different events that unfold forge their personalities. There's so much fun to be had with the different fight styles and the exploration of both Kamuroucho and Sotenbori, meeting new people in the richly diverse substories or just goofing around in one of the many minigames available. My personal favourite was, undoubtedly, karaoke. I'm not particularly good with rhythm games, but the songs were amazing (and there's a delicious extra, as the characters act the songs out).
It looks beautiful (even with an old toaster like mine), it plays beautifully (I haven't encountered a single bug during the entire time I played) and it presents a story that you will probably not forget (I know I won't).
I've got to give it to SEGA for being such a good sport and releasing this game on PC. I hope we can get the rest of the series on Steam, as I'm dying to experience it.
