I hardly ever do reviews, but I felt this one deserves it.

While the shooty bits, while not bad, aren't mind blowing, everything else about the game is an incredible act of love. To give some game comparisons, it feels like a weird love child of Mass Effect and Uncharted. It's got lots of story telling bits, fun set pieces that have you hitting a good number of environments navigating and fighting your way through, party combos that you can set up once you get more abilities.

Aside from all that, the story is wonderfully mature. It's got the funny comedic bits that help break up the tension (and it did get quite a few chuckles from me just from the amazing camera work or silly thing that would happen), but the story wrapping as a whole is a very mature take on learning to cope, moving forward, forgiveness, and bonding with family and friends.

I highly recommend this game for the amazing swashbuckling space drama story heavy game that it is, it was probably the most satisfied I've been with a game purchase in some time.

It's probably the best playing and most easy to get OP really fast of the Pirhana Bytes games. Beginning is kinda rough until you start putting points into things, but probably about 5-8 hours in you can easily stomp through the rest of the game.

The factions armor and stories are pretty different, so it's interesting picking one and seeing how things play out. I recommend picking early if you want to focus on Magic or Melee, and kinda dedicate points to the appropriate skills (after picking up Cunning and Influence). Though, if you are a completionist on each island, you'll easily be able to be a master of all since the islands have LOTS of quests, and if you clear all the monsters from each island you'll be absolutely swimming in Glory (their experience that you spend).

It's a decent romp. I like the concept a lot of aiding a growing rebellion against an oppressive force, and seeing your forces slowly take over each map is cool.

The shooting feels really floaty and lacking impact though, which even after playing through the game and the DLC never really went away.

The DLC was a mixed bag. They were super short, but I really liked Beyond the Wall. Introduced some fun scenarios and the story was neat.

Currently, the game is unplayable and it crashes on the first loading screen for me and a large number of other users. From preliminary research, looks like it's from Phenom II processors. Wait for patches, otherwise the purchase is basically a 60 dollar crash to desktop.

Update: Beta patch released today. Some people are reporting performance increases with the game, but it still crashes after the Void Engine screen plays. Still can not recommend in good faith.

Update 2: Second patch released. Apparently no difference for Phenom II users, or users of AMD 6xxx (can't remember exact number from the forum post) CPUs. Game still crashes for me right out of the gate, soon as I get to the loading screen.
