Winning is great, but I’d rather have a story worth telling.

Games are the future
“Games don't distract us from our real lives. They fill our real lives: with positive emotions, positive activity, positive experiences, and positive strengths. Games aren't leading us to the downfall of human civilization. They're leading us to its reinvention.” - Jane McGonigal

As a veteran Dungeon Master with 15 years of crafting and guiding tales in the world of tabletop adventures, I approached Baldur's Gate 3 with a mix of excitement and skepticism. Could a video game truly capture the essence of the intricate storytelling and limitless possibilities that come with tabletop role-playing?

Let me tell you, Larian Studios not only captured that essence but in some ways elevated it to new heights.

From the very first roll of the digital dice, I found myself immersed in a world that felt like it was plucked straight from the pages of a well-worn D&D campaign. The attention to detail in every quest, every dialogue choice, and every piece of lore is staggering. It's evident that the developers at Larian Studios not only understand the intricacies of the Dungeons & Dragons universe but have a deep respect for the art of storytelling.

As a Dungeon Master, I've always relished the moments where players make unexpected choices, leading to unforeseen consequences. Baldur's Gate 3 not only embraces this concept but revels in it. The branching storylines and the multitude of choices available to players mirror the unpredictability and excitement of a live tabletop session. The feeling of agency is palpable, and the consequences of your decisions ripple through the narrative in ways that kept me on the edge of my seat.

And let's talk about the world-building – a task near and dear to the heart to my heart. The Forgotten Realms come to life in Baldur's Gate 3 with a level of detail that is nothing short of remarkable. From the bustling city streets to the foreboding dungeons, every location feels meticulously crafted, inviting exploration and rewarding the curious.

Whether you're a seasoned Dungeon Master or a newcomer to the realms of fantasy, Baldur's Gate 3 is an adventure you won't want to miss.

Disco Elysium is a truly unique and amazing experience. The writing is top-notch and the character development is superb. The game combines elements of RPGs, visual novels, and adventure games to create a truly one-of-a-kind experience. The world-building is fantastic, immersing players in a rich and detailed setting that is equal parts funny and haunting. The dialogue choices add a layer of replayability and make the player feel like their choices truly matter. I also love the soundtrack, which perfectly sets the tone for each scene.
