Worth the wait it took to arrive. Seldom has there been a smarter, funnier, clever-er game as Tactical Breach Wizards. It's not XCOM, it's not Into the Breach, it is just a rock-solid GOOD GAME. Throw your enemies through windows and then do it again to see if you can get more enemies through more windows.

This game is hideously underrated. Exceptionally clever design, great UI, charming narration, magnificent art, and a story that really digs its hooks into you. Rewards exploration and experimentation, and has intensely funny "I can't believe they came up with a response for that action" moments.

Really, check this one out.

1. Dang, I'm never going to beat that giant monster.
2. I need to make better gear to beat that giant monster.
3. OK, I've practiced, optimized my build, and I'm ready to take down that giant monster.
4. I beat that giant monster! Wait, there's ANOTHER giant monster?

I never thought a deckbuilder could be a roguelike, and yet, 275 hours later, here we are.

A Hat in Time describes itself as "cute as heck." It delivers on this promise and so many others.

There have been a number of games recently which have tried to recapture the joy of exploration and the broad selection of collect-em-up levels and game styles that we remember fondly from the early era of 3D platformers. A Hat in Time is one of the first ones to really hit all the notes. The controls are just simply fun to play with, and navigating the great big open levels is endlessly entertaining. The character design is adorable and fun. The soundtrack is infectiously cheerful.

Would Hat Again.

Solid Portal-like, clever puzzles. Also lots of philosophy.

That item combo does WHAT now? Other games try to emulate what Isaac has perfected. Never in the history of roguelikes has the oft-repeated claim "No two games are alike!" been actually true like it is here. Tough but fair, with an actual learning curve and rewards for true skill, Isaac and its various permutations are truly satisfying.

Seems simple. Gets ridiculous. A zillion different combinations of heroes, villains, and environments. Variants to unlock.

And a lot of math and forgetting something was buffed.
