Where each force on life has no pull
Yet embraced by this respite
To reflect, one can’t help it

To measure life day to day
One can’t help but feel decay
Ebb & flow, moon & sun
Like tide, weather on the run

Turn instead to the average
Give your outlook some advantage
You outshine you of yesteryear
Keep in mind, you have not to fear

Even harder, yet to see
All you’ve been forced to flee
“What if” on repeat in the mind
The present not repaid in kind

All one knows, back at home
Left with not but books to comb
But what you’ve grown to come & miss
Is what you loved, back in bliss

So when you’re longing for the past
Remember good times come & last
So look forward & behold
The good times you’ve yet to hold
