To this day, it's the best VR game I've played.

Loading screen simulator with paid mods. They got my $100 this time but they won't ever again

This game is hard for all of the wrong reasons. The enemies are bullet sponges and you are constantly put into situations where you are extremely low on ammo. This even happens on the easiest difficulty. I had several instances where I found myself backtracking just to find chainsaw fuel or another piece of ammo so that I even stood a chance because I was completely out of everything.

I got about 10 hours into the game and was faced against several large enemies with 15 bullets on one gun and 0 on the rest. I did the same strategy of backtracking until I could find any ammo to actually stand a chance against the enemies (no you cannot melee that many at once and no there was no chainsaw fuel around). I completed a challenge, which gave me some chainsaw fuel and ammo. Then the game bugged and my objective is stuck at "Retrieve your cruicible" which I already completed. The enemies that were originally chasing me will not respawn as well. I'm uninstalling this waste of time. DO NOT BUY.

I bought this game on sale because I like Sean Bean and Dyatlov Pass was interesting to me.

This game is basically a walking simulator with a large open map. You get a compass and a map, then have to figure out where to go from there. The game kind of leaves it up to you to explore in any direction that you want, but that's about where the fun ends.

Things get stale after about a half-hour when you realize that the game lacks much substance. You walk from point A to point B, read another journal entry, sometimes witness something paranormal or supernatural, then walk to the next point.

Based on the cover art, I suspected that maybe the game would incorporate some pretty spooky beasties to chase my naive arse around the frozen wilderness. Instead, it's the same tired re-used hollow ghost/shadow people from every other horror game and AAA flashback walking sim segment in the last 10 years. They're more of an annoyance than a fright.

Maybe if you're REALLY into the real story behind this game and want a supernatural twist, give it a try. Otherwise, give this one the ole dyatlov PASS.

If you're on the fence, just don't buy this game.

The game is broken still 5 years later. I put 30 hours into the game and got stuck on a bug that won't let me progress any further. The save system is garbage. The combat is garbage. The story - it was good, but I gave up on it because I'm not doing 30 hours over again.

Even at $8 on sale. Avoid this game. Save your money.

The first time I saw the skin stealer was one of the scariest moments I've had in any horror game - even AAA horror games. This game is nuts.

I beat through the entire game in one sitting (which took a few hours) alongside 3 complete strangers who all became friends by the end of our run. This game can be played through several times and still be fun. For the price, it's a complete steal.

Buggy Mess. Practically impossible to complete on those "stealth only" missions due to the bugs.

The ending is just stupid. Making me leave the game running for several hours in the background is not innovative or creative. It's just annoying.
