Do not recommend currently unless you just want to mess with AI and shoot things.

Wait till release.

It is missing all of it's story and severely lacks things to do and explore on this huge beautiful island.

Pros:
- Awesome graphics, abundant amount of foliage, very distant tree rendering, awesome season changes -- everything looks great. Down to new animations in crafting menu and gorgeous subsurface scattering that is used even in the cave interiors, I love the new visual aspect of the game.
- AI and gunplay are on the same level or slightly improved compared to the Forest.
- Companions are a great addition, just make the game more lively
- Base building is more immersive
- A lot of new recipes and items
- Huge map
- Kevin with his automated gathering is godsend. Just an amazing QoL feature.

Cons:
- Map is way too big. Unless it is going to be populated with abundant amount of content or have PvP, I see it as a tremendous con.
- Because of the size of the map and little content in between, you will have to run 15 - 20 minutes from point A to point B only to realize you don't have an item to open point A and run back for another 20 minutes. YIKES. So many hours spent JUST RUNNING. Awful design choice, unless there are some major things incoming, otherwise there is no justification to having full size island and not say half of it.
- Enemy scaling. First part of the game is challenging and I love it, playing on hard mode solo cleaning early caves in complete darkness feels spooky, a bit tense fighting literal hordes in tiny dark spaces. Great overall. Then you unlock guns. And for some reason from fighting 8+ enemies in blackness you move to fighting 1-3 of the same enemies but in spacious lit spaces with silenced weapons/shotguns and strong melee. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
- No sense of exploration. In original Forest you have to find cave entrances, discover them, explore them and figure out what you need. You could do it without a map because of the island size + the cave system was connected. Now thanks to size inflation it is simply not feasible and there is 0 connection between the caves.
- Just 3 completed caves to explore, the other 7 or so are a single placeholder room. Still. For such a huge map I would expect a lot more caves that are connected in a network. Don't think that would happen though.
- Story related offices while look great didn't provide for fun gameplay. Felt underwhelming compared to nightmarish early game caves. If anything, they would make more sense switched up in terms of progression.
- No hotkeys. You can pull backpack by holding I to pick one of selected items but it is a fast way to die while being chased. While immersive, it is a terrible gameplay.
- Most of the building options are gone. As mentioned building is more immersive but you can't lock your own base nor even protect it with traps.
- Enemies attacking the base are also... Underwhelming. Most I've seen are 3 regular cannibals or 1 giant. Virginia with a pistol takes care of it 99/100 times.

I imagine most of the negatives aside from the inflated map size will go away. Thus why I don't recommend it CURRENTLY.

I think it will be an incredible survival game once fleshed out, but right now I felt that I wasted my time running around in the forest. There isn't much point in building a base unless to goof around, it will be just too far from everything to ever come back to it.

Probably the most enjoyable System Shock like game I've played so far,

- Polished
- Great performance
- Looks very good
- Story seems fairly predictable, but the setting is cool. Also, robo waifus!
- Hardest difficulty is quite enjoyable and feels balanced
- Awesome feel to the gameplay itself, on par or better than Prey.
All attacks have meaty impact and there is a variety of way to approach enemies

Cons:
- NO RTX that was advertised for the game for years
- No FOV slider, game is super zoomed in

Don't play it, quite addictive.

If you do, till you get to the north solo is fine. Once you go north, group play is almost a must as it becomes very hard to get out with the loot. Recommend finding a partner or more when you go into end-game territory.

If you played Tarkov, it's kinda like that but Stalker and open world. Going to the base can mean going through multiple exfils. But it also means that you could respawn and pick up your items if you die.

Overall, awesome, even if grindy, but the grind is PvPvE filled so it's part of the gameplay loop.

Pretty much a perfect survival / exploration PvP/PvE game.

As if Valheim had a baby with Conan Exiles / Rust / Ark.

In 24h 0 crashes or bugs that I've encountered, positive vibes from the players, great graphics, awesome gameplay.

Can't say much more -- it is all around great

OLD at 5.3 hours:

Great, crisp gameplay and mechanics, no performance issues [on high end hardware].

Battlepass has to change HARD and customisation is lackluster for 2021 standards.

Latest change to BP is better than nothing, but still far from anything decent.

New:

Game that was released barebones and didn't get anywhere since. Disappointment.

Possibly, the best and most intricate zombie survival.

Still great and gets better more than 10 years later.

Pretty much perfect gameplay loops, very fun and engaging.

No bugs, almost flawless experience (aside from netcode).

I just wish bosses were tougher to beat.

Amazing game, even with small bugs and glitches.

Pretty much Witcher 3 in CP or a Deus Ex with much better characters, story, graphics and open world.

Side quests are fun, gameplay is great, characters are lovely. Can't complain.
