Indecent
I'm not sure this is an honest deal. 20€ for a DLC that simply add a similar locomotive than an existing one and few wagons for this price is worst than the Dovetail policy.
Is this really the example to follow?

As a reminder, it's more than the half of the price of the base game for very limited additional content.

Absurd Good tactical intervention game
The game is good overall and we can feel its potential but many points need to be corrected quickly to make the game "playable" to exploit it to its full potential.

The allied AIs are stupid and the instructions to be given are far too simplistic for such a complex environment. The order system needs to be greatly improved to allow for fine planning of the actions and movements of the AI agents who literally execute the actions without taking into account the surrounding context and the situation to the point of executing suicidal actions.

Enemy AI needs to be fixed as well. They can see through walls, do not react to detonations, do not react when their colleagues are hit, do not secure their positions and generally do not prepare their defenses when they are attacked. They wait patiently behind the doors because they know exactly where you are located and have physical reactions faster than a human with overdeveloped reflexes and unheard of precision regardless of whether they are junkies or ex-commandos.
Since release, they have been "nerfed" and have less omniscient behavior but remain fairly basic.

Note that in multiplayer mode, players tend to systematically restart games at the slightest minimal error in order to potentially have the maximum score, which in my opinion harms the experience and learning. Removing the possibility of restarting a game or at least a voting system to avoid a forced unilateral choice is imperative to allow players to get more involved in the game, create stakes and thus not harm the experience.

Other "issues" can be noted as many people have already done but they are anecdotal or have no real relevance for improving the game in the immediate future such as for example; Weapons and equipment that do not explicitly have stat points however they do enough damage individually that it is not relevant to establish a scale of measurement between them.

Apart from the initial experience and the atmosphere, these previous points need to be improved immediately in order to make the game more playable and above all fairer. because right now it's like fighting terminators while babysitting.

Original comment made upon official release, corrected to reflect subsequent changes and corrections.

One of the best experiences of recent years, supported by a magnificent soundtrack.
The Phantom Liberty DLC adds missions and a very interesting and moving additional story to the main story as well as an alternative final ending that is more satisfying and allegorical in the face of the feeling of emptiness that one can feel after closing this page of video game history.

Unworthy of a big studio like Bethesda
Boring and repetitive, the story is not very exciting and the gameplay is rigid and dated.
Everything is extremely simplified and smooth, the work is clearly not finished.

At first glance, you think you're dealing with a game so vast and complex that you could spend hundreds of hours on it, but once the euphoria of discovery has passed, you see the crude strings of the game and its construction.
The acting work in the scrapheap, the 3D modeling of the characters, the writing of the scenario at the stage of a first draft, the haphazard assembly of different types of gameplay, its environments regularly recycled on different alien planets, the redundancy of the actions to be performed by the player... It's one of the worst experiences of recent times and yet I didn't expect much from it because everything went into commercial communication and it showed.

Maybe an independent development studio would have taken a different approach and made the gaming experience more interesting...

It's Fallout with another name. Bethesda can do anything else than they already did?

Too soon...
It's a shame to sell a game 50€ with less content and functionalities than KSP 1. This last is sell at 40€ and can be acquired for 10€ with regulars promotions.
It's better to not buying it for now until all features already included into KSP 1 will be available. Maybe in one year or two it will more interesting but for now it's just an empty shell.

A vile VR!

The VR mode is simply anecdotal. It is technically behind the times and worthy of an amateur game from the beginning of VR in 2016.

Visually it's the Hitman engine so on that side there's not much to say however the VR gaming experience is atrocious because there is no room-scaling management. You have to stand in the center of your play area and always stay facing it.
You can't move sideways or get down or get up because the game doesn't support it.

As for rotating on yourself, you can do it occasionally, however you will have to either put yourself back in your initial position, or constantly recenter the camera each time you turn because your character does not turn and the controls will remain in the initial position.
The game supports two controllers, however you can only use one hand to hold objects, only the right hand (does left-handed people exist?...). The left hand is almost exclusively used to open doors.

Also, the game is totally blurry beyond 2 meters in front of you without the possibility of configuring the graphics settings dedicated to VR.

It's unworthy of a big studio to release a game as it is. It's not even a bug, that's how VR mode was designed.
Hoping that the developers will fix this in the future but the game has been out for over a year and these VR issues have been around since the beginning and nothing has been done to fix this which doesn't give confidence for the future...

I do not recommend this game in VR.

I was not able to experience VR in 2015 but for 2020 this game is lagging behind in terms of gameplay. It was designed to be played with a controller and the VR experience is totally non-existent. The only use of being in VR is to be able to move your head (in the spacesuit) but if you turn your head too much the camera automatically recenters. The subtitles are too close to the face and therefore difficult to read. You have to close each eye successively to read a sentence.
Launched in Oculus mode, the game launches in SteamVR in Oculus. The game crashes constantly so it is impossible to play properly or calmly.

As it stands, the game is a sandbox/rail-shooter with PS1 graphics. Little effort is made for the level design.
The AI (both allied and enemy) is basic and will cause more problems than anything else. Only 7 missions are available and will loop so in a few hours you will have gone through the story and the maps.
Many imperfections are present and much better constructed comments already cite them so if you want to know more, read the comments in English.

To put it simply, the game is certainly playable but is still in beta. At the moment it is just the basis of the game as it could be in the future. Many improvements are to be expected if the developers continue quickly in their project.

To be continued.
