Hi all,
If you look for a management game with a complex economy where you need an calculater to do the maths before you do anything in the game then TP is not for you. If you look for a game which is as realistic as the real world then TP is also not for you and you may want to stop reading now.
If you look for a sandbox game which is easy to learn and gives you an infinite amount of maps where every map puts you in front of new challenges then you may want to continue reading.

Transport Fever works just fine on any computer with better hardware than the minimum requirements. Its not recommended to play the game with just the minimum requirements but i am sure it will work.
After nearly 800 hours of playtime it only crashed in the early days after release but nowadays you can surely run the game all day long.
The performance is overall good and excellent when you start a game but gets worse and worse as you grow your empire. That however really depends on your computer. I, personally, have a strong computer which gives me a rather pleasant expirience while playing but that can surely change when your computer is not able to handle it. I can recommend 16GB RAM since the game tends to use 7GB -8GB after playing the game for several hours.
In the early stages of the game, you barely have any issues building your stations and creating lines, setting up signals, buying trains, busses, trams and doing some terrain work.
The performance has improved by a lot after the last performance patch. In the later stages of the game, you'll still encounter FPS issues, which simply depends on the total population of the map.
Depending on your system it will take more time until you encounter those issues.
In the later stages of the game (200 years past roughly) you really want to just optimize every line and only do little changes to the infrastructure because it gets more of a pain.
There are still minor bugs in the game which is obviously normal. A few graphic glitches happen from time to time as well, espacially in the railway department. After all it is certainly playable and if you report those bugs and glitches to the devs, i am sure they ll fix it.
Transport Fever is not good or bad because of the mods you can download. Mods just fill in details and to some extend make the game easier and more appealing.
To start things off in terms of gameplay, PLAY the game without mods at first and understand the basics of the game before you get into modding things.
The game itsself is held really simple. You don't need a degree in mathematics and physics in order to undestand the game. The complexity comes from the player himself and not from the developer, you will understand what i mean once you played the game. Many problems which are mentioned in other reviews come from building a too complex line which the game is not made for. Keep it simple. Connect Station A with B and put a transport vehicle on the line you created. It is very easy to learn how it works and what you need to do in order to get started. The construction of bridges, switches and tunnels is also very easy due to the help of the game.
The main focus of the game is building an transport empire with trains, trucks, ships and airplanes where you connect up to 27 cities (large map) with passenger lines and different goods. The cities grow on their own and you are only able to influence the growth by providing the needed goods and connecting them to other cities with passenger lines.

You baught the game and need some tips and tricks then continue reading.

Tipps and tricks for starters

Play the Campaign first and learn the basics.
Watch a video guide on signals and how they work.
Disable or set the time for the autosaves to more than 10 minutes. (You'll know why i said it once you played the game)
Free Game - Plan ahead and build for the future!
Before you start decide on how you want to play. Earn LOADS of money or build nice things and not really care bout money.
Spend your money in order to make more otherwise you gonna sit there for days watching one train going from A to B and back.
Airplanes, let them be in the game but don't bother using them unless money is not an issue anymore.
Don't try to connect every city with every industry. Choose 2-3 cities, depending on the map size, and focus on those.
There are 6 products which are needed in cities.
| = or
If the line does not appear something is wrong! Check it out before buying the train.
Use proper names for your lines to keep the overview.
Change the names of the Cities to whatever you want, so you remember where they are on the map.
In the info tab at the top of the screen, disable the "$" for costs to improve performance.

Hope i was able to help you. Please understand that it is my first review of a game and all of it comes from playing the game. I have not played Train Fever or any other game which is similar to that, so i can't compare any of it.
EDIT: Feel free to ask anything about the game in the comments below.
Updates are posted in the comments below!

UPDATE:
If you play with mods i'd recommend having a back up copy of all your mods installed via steam. Why? If a mod gets removed on steam, you ll be unable to load maps where the removed mods were used in.
Load the mods in as you need them. Example: Having a mod for trains that can be used in the year 2000, won't help you in 1900 but they will increase loading times and RAM usage.
FPS in the later stages of the game improved significantly after the last performance patch and maps that were unplayable, are playable again. I still recommend having more RAM than the 8GB, espacially if you play with mods.
A new patch was recently announce and the devs are still improving the game as we speak. Rumors say that Transport Fever II is in the making but it isn't confirmed yet.
After nearly 1300 hrs playtime the game still did not get boring and it is still exciting starting new maps.

Thanks Thork and TheAlmighty1.

I'll update the review as new patches are released, so everyone has an review of the current state of the game.

Nice review.

Would like to say that 8GB should be absolutely fine, mostly depending on additional VRAM and mod usage.
I have 4GB VRAM and 8GB System RAM and the vanilla game usually uses less than 5 GB System RAM. I also have not seen much increase in RAM usage on longer sessions, unless you add more vehilce types or assets etc.
As said, the amount used can increase f.ex. when using many mods, but you should still be fine. Even if RAM usage goes slightly beyond what is available, it should not have much of a negative impact if you have a decently fast swapfile.
In most cases, performance is much more likely to be limited by the CPU, mostly related to number of agents (town-sizes). A performance patch has been announced.

Thanks for mentionning bout the Ram, recommending using 16GB (I only have 8GB so gonna have to wait to buy the game til I get more GB's)
