This game seems great but the performance problems are obstructing my ability to really enjoy the game. Outdoor areas chug extremely hard with both low average framerates and terrible frametimes, with mystifying CPU bottlenecking seemingly unreflective of the visual or sim content of the scene or level on the whole. This would be an easy recommendation if it didn't stutter aggressively, but it does, so I can't recommend it in its current state - I truly hope that changes ASAP!! The rest of the package is excellent

I didn't know anything about this game going in besides "fps", so imagine my surprise when I found something so clearly in conversation with both modern Doom, original Doom, and the progression of first person shooters through the early-mid 2000's. This game wears its references on its sleeve and is all the better for it, delivering ultra-refined visceral flowstate arena combat - this is where it apes Eternal most directly; however, resource management's existance is not laborious or stressful in the slightest, but instead a gentle nudge towards variety, more firmly than 2016 but kinder than Eternal. Enemies do not require specific hard counter weapons allowing for more flexibility in approach, and changing your routine up rapidly feels optimal and flashy but not mandatory in the way it did in Eternal - where favoring one or 2 weapons basically didn't work.

The movement here is similar to Eternal as well, and feels just great. The chainsaw legs are an excellent mechanic implimented well - aside from the damage component, you can shoot while sliding in arbitrary directions; the potential for interesting combinations of movement and abilities seems tremendous. I will say that the grappling hook is nowhere near the level of satisfying Id have achieved in Eternal though! Beyond the comparisons to modern Doom, the game's tendrils snake back through time drawing tropes and mechanics from the aforementioned influences and many more, as is apparent from the start through its presentation, to things life seamlessly integrated free-movement vehicle combat sections throwing me right back to Half-life 2 and its episodes.

This is a game willing to pluck the best ideas from many moments through time and mush them into something greater than the sum of its parts, which is often the abstract ideal for boomer shooters but RARELY realized with such precision and intent, all while weaving in a lot of truly original and surprising mechanics, ideas and moments through the beefy campaign. To read the above and conclude this is a derivative game would be misguided - the developers have a deep and clear understanding of what makes an FPS fun, and have built on the shoulders of the best possible giants to their own ambitious goals.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoys fast shooters. The only ding I would really give would be occasional awkward dialogue and somewhat cluttered storytelling, but it really, really did not impact my enjoyment of this tremendously fun and inventive game.

This game has extremely obtrusive shader compilation, traversal and unsolvable camera stutter in the vein of Jedi Survivor, and I had to request a refund as camera pans and driving around make me nauseous. These are typical UE pitfalls that have been known for *years* and it's frankly unacceptable for the devs to miss. Stinker!!

This game has serious shader compilation stutter. If that bothers you in other games (it does for me!), it likely will in this too. That earns it a thumbs down from me, as I cannot really play the game comfortably. Devs: if you make an effort to cache and precompile your shaders, I will give this another pass! But I cannot put money towards stutterfests in 2023.
