This game is not for everyone, but if you are the kind to enjoy deep puzzlers, then be sure to give this a try.

So many bad games are getting positive reviews, and this gem is sitting on "Mixed", and it has only gotten better since release.

Updating review for the Steam awards.

At the time of the original review, DEATHLOOP was sitting at a "Mixed" rating.

The game has since risen to a much higher score as I would have expected after playing it.

I have fun with DEATHLOOP, perhaps you will too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Feature Review

What is Hex?
Hex is a Trading Card Game (TCG), not unlike things we've seen before.

What makes it different?
Hex was originally marketed as an MMO/Card game, and while it's not there yet, it is becoming one with each major content drop.

What do you mean MMO/Card game?
Well, for your PvE experience you will pick a race and a class. You are given a deck containing basic cards, and then you are encouraged to go explore the adventure zone(s) to collect cards and equipment; or you can improve your skills against players and try to be among the best.

Equipment?
Yes, Hex has equipment for your character, equipment that change what cards do, when you can play them, or what they cost.
The equipment is specific to your cards, so you pick and choose what equipment you want for the deck you are currently playing.

Then we go explore?
Correct, when you get into the game you can choose to run the capmpaign, the arena (PvE) or any of the many variants of PvP available.

PvE?
The campaign, has dungeons to be beaten, and loot to be found. You level your character, pick your talents, and upgrade your deck.
In the Frostring Arena, you are faced up against a list of 20 opponents with a single deck, and three lives, changing bosses and a hidden random encounter keeps it very fun, and rewarding.

PvP?
There are several ways of playing against other players:
Sealed deck
Draft
Constructed

Sealed and constructed can both be played as a live tournament, or as a gauntlet tournament where you can play until you have 5 wins, or three losses, and in both then you get rewarded according to how well you did.

And, all this is free?
Well, the game has two different currencies, platinum and gold.
You can acquire gold from the PvE experience, or by selling cards, chests, packs, mercenaries or equipment on the auction house
With platinum, you can buy packs, starter decks, and entry to tournaments, and is obtained by purchasing it from the store, or by selling your above mentioned items.
Depending on what you want out of the game, it can cost you money, but you can certainly try it and enjoy it at no cost at all.

Is it worth my time and money?
That's really hard for me to say, but as for time, it is certainly worth mine. Concerning your money, it's not like you need to throw down anything to give it a try, so I would say yes on both accounts.

To sum up, PvE is free, and you are rewarded with cards (both PvE and PvP) as well as equipment, and dust to upgrade the art on the cards to extended art, all of which can be sold to other players for gold or platinum.
You can play against players, and if you are good, and hardcore enough to attempt it, you can try and compete in tournaments for good prizes.

Card packs contain a single rare or legendary card, a few uncommons, and quite a few commons up to a total of 17 cards, when buying or winning packs, there is a chance that it will generate a PRIMAL PACK that will contain 2 legendaries, and 13 rares.

You can construct as many decks as you would like, with as many colours and cards as you want. And you get to pick the champion yourself, there are quite a few, and only more coming.

The game is very promising, the digital-only design space opens up some very interesting mechanics, from as generating new cards, or shuffling cards into your opponents deck, to permanent buffs and cards with sockets.
Content is being released at a rather slow rate at the moment, so if you join early, you have a good chance at catching up.

Tournaments are run weekly, and there are monthly VIP tournaments that reward alternate art cards worth upwards of 15$ each, and the entry fee is much less, but you do need to have the VIP entry tickets.

The game comes with a tutorial, and the community is very helpful.

It may seem overwhelming at first, but start by jumping into the ever expanding campaign, and venture into the world of PvP once you feel like you are ready.

I have played the game since alpha and even now, the special encounters, and race/class rewards in the campaign keeps you coming back for more.
