Probably the best $1 spend ever!

In seriousness, this is a great little TD game. I love this kind of game and have finally found something even the younger players in the house can do. It can genuinely be challenging too and there are heaps of levels and monkey/towers to tinker with combo wise.

Yes, it all looks a little dated compared to your modern 3D superdooper AAA ray traced thingamajig stuff. So long as you put those views aside it is a great addition to the series. The extra dimension really works well with the fluid physics in play and leads to some really nice ways of playing.

Support is also excellent. I had an issue (turns out it was a hardware issue on my side - hopefully) and the developer was really quick in responding to my email.

The only real annoyance as I see it is the control scheme is different to what I am used to for most other 3D titles therefore causing my aged brain to have to learn stuff!

Way more in depth and enjoyable than the basic graphics suggest

Like Diablo, but free and way more complex for skills etc. My only gripe so far is that the zoom levels seem fairly close in.

This is pretty much a great example of how to do a free game. Cosmetics etc cost. Ease of life things like Stash tweaks cost, the core game works fine without these but I can see why people may end up with them.

Definitely a case of "one more map before bed"!

This game has continued to evolve over time much like the majority of Egosoft X games. it will take some time to learn as it doesn't do a lot of hand-holding, but combined with amazing mods such as VRO and the XR ship packs it is truly great.

Don't expect a quick experience though. It will take quite some time to get through everything in this.

Do get the expansion pack if you can as it adds quite a bit more to the world.

At first I bounced off this game, however after deciding that I should give this another go I can now say that I am absolutely hooked. I'm currently only basing experience from the single player mode but I have to say that I'm enjoying the openess this provides to tell my own stories.

My ship is pretty damn buff (I hope) and I'm running hit and run raids into deeper space (via wormholes) for minerals and parts well beyond my level.

Whilst I sometimes wish that the AI was a bit smarter, I still have to say that I am now loving playing the game.

(Also there are some very good game guides written - well done to all those people).

Not a tower defence game. A true gem of a game that will appeal to natural RTS turtlers. It is, however, extremely difficult to finish a round, but each time you start over things get a little bit more achievable.

Regardless, them manky buggers always find a way through.
