I bought GTA V several months before beginning to play it - when it was on sale. A couple of months ago I decided to give it a try and it has sucked me in. There are so many things to do in the game that it is truly unique. I played story mode for a couple weeks and then tried Online. Online is much more fun especially after joining a crew. Language is foul at times and content adult oriented, but if you can stomach the political un-correctness, it's a blast.
