I will only flip this to positive when the game is reinstated in the countries that it was blocked in due to Sony's stupidity.

Well, it took them about four years, but, they actually made this DLC not complete ass with the most recent update. Not only can you turn off the Academy and return it to what it was prior to the DLC, while still keeping the GOOD parts of the DLC, but they rebalanced a LOT of the problems that were going on, made the new faction and the Academy actually have some decent interaction, and made the Academy actually worth having ON thanks to two settings adjustments and a diplomacy screen. Might actually get rid of the need for a good number of mods just right off the bat, well done Amplitude.

Now next time, don't farm out your DLC to another company so that you don't **HAVE** to go back 4 years later to fix it, please? As nice as it is that you fixed it, I'd rather you did it right the first time...

For the amount of work you have to put in to get something useful that carries over to future runs, it really isn't worth it. The game is pure RNG with little to no way to manipulate that RNG in your favor, so you end up spending an entire floor exploring a massive dead end while the exit was only two doors down and could easily be lit up to produce more resources.

Devs ousted the original creators, and are now taking a torch to something they didn't make. Save your money, buy something better made by people who want YOUR MONEY, not an ESG score.

Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage. Playing on anything higher than story difficulty means watching constant popups for 3 vs 6 on attack rolls as you repeatedly miss enemies that you are flanking. Precise shot physically does not function. Owlcat, you didn't fix the dice from Kingmaker, what the hell makes you think I'm gonna pick up Rogue Trader EVER.

For as nice of a story as it can be, and for all the fun times you can have on easy mode, this game is just so poorly designed from a mechanical standpoint that it's punishing in the extreme. If you must hurt yourself in the way that this game demands you to I recommend self-flagellation.

"That's XCOM, Baby"? No, "That's ♥♥♥♥ Design, Son."

An absolutely awesome game marred by some of the worst porting I've ever experienced in a PC title. Even worse than Dark Souls 1, and that's saying something. If the game didn't have so many crashes, loading errors, and bad input reads for controllers, then it'd be an amazing adventure into the world of One Piece, especially for newcomers to that world. As it stands, you're better off getting it on Playstation if you can, or just skipping this to get Pirate Warriors 4, which is this game's bizzaro version, having solid gameplay but skipping way too much of the story.

Updated Review:

I still highly recommend this game, and anyone who has read my OPPW3 review knows why. PW4 does an amazing job of taking the mechanics of Warriors games and changing them up to be unique and fun again, with the changes to super moves being the most welcome of the lot. Allowing up to four player selected moves to be available, with form changing and self heals on the list for many characters, is a huge step forward for the genre. The varied maps, changes to the way territory works, and dash gauge all add to the fast paced, frenetic fun of this game. Combine that with an awesome cast, both base and DLC offerings, and you have a solid and fun brawler worth its weight in Beli.

The one, and only gripe I have, is the fact that it cuts so many great arcs out of the story, jumping so far forward in the One Piece timeline and skipping over so many battles and characters that it ends up being only half as long as the janky, busted game that came before it. But if the next installment of the series can somehow merge 4's fast paced and solid mechanics, as well as excellent porting, with 3's sheer depth of content, then PW5 would become the definitive edition of this storied franchise. One can only hope for such an outcome.

TR gets Brrt. Vanu get aim bot. NC gets shields that don't last more than one hit. Real nice balance there guys. At least the Vanguard is a beast.
