Sorry to hear about your laptop overheating. Unfortunately, CPUCores is not meant as a solution to hardware heating issues, or really any hardware-specific issues at all.
Instead, CPUCores functions by adjusting CPU resource consumption by non-game processes.
Essentially, if your CPU is maxed, it will stay maxed, however, with CPUCores, your game will have a higher share of that max CPU usage.
