Uggg...this really hurts posting this for such a game franchise but sadly as hyped as I was for this...this isn't good. I was talking with a friend and sadly the best way to explain this game without you having to read the rest of the review is, Son, we have Deep Rock Galactic at home and this game is shown.

Sure I get it, this game is in Early Access I KNOW, sure I know it's a Vampire Survivors like, but I love Vampire Survivors.
If you have stuck around let me just get to the meat as to why not recommend. Again this pains me so much but basically the 3 pillars of why Deep Rock is fun is that it's fun with friends, obviously it's a mining game so that's really fun and interesting and there is vast customisation with very different characters.
At least most of these pillars or really, all 3 don't continue in this game. Firstly massive red flag, this game is single player, sure I get it fun and probably cheaper to make but really most probably the chaos with your friends is why most people play Deep Rock. Second if you don't have friends and you really are a dwarf then mining is your thing so that's why you play Deep Rock...yeah none of that here. No controls, just WASD so move and the dwarf does everything automatically, yes like Vampire Survivors but come on maybe let me click my mouse for that at least? Ok let's not do that ignore what I said but still let me enjoy my mining, let me see gold and go ouuu yes! Not every time I see gold or Nitra or anything else I'm like god no, I'm gonna get slowed down and this endless never ending swarm will kill me! Please I don't want to see anymore minerals.
Lastly the customisation, so this was the ehh sorta, it's here but not really. You can technically customise your build and get the gunner, scout weapons and grenades so what...is the point of the other classes really? Not much, minor things like the scout can move faster...yey, no grapple btw cause why have something that cools down for lets say 30 seconds and uses something other than WASD make the game more fun and original? No Gunner shield cause again same reason as stated before. It's just painful. So many obvious things where missed...and I can't think of a reason why. It really feels like a chore than just having fun with Deep Rock again and it makes me very sad. It's just a worse Vampire Survivors like with a Deep Rock skin and that's it.
Hey, at least I can click V and Rock and Stone...alone.

I'm truly torn, it doesn't deserve a not recommend. I'm biased I grew up with this game, I remember the rat scaring me, and I remember the title screen of the second game giving me nightmares, but all in a good way... My fondest memories were of this game and 2. This game's graphics were the best so a definitive edition with them touching up everything and making it perfect was a no-brainer for me to buy it.
Then multiplayer happened. Look adding Steam Multiplayer is amazing, and everything else amazing but not putting in that extra effort for adding Skirmish Ai to a game that never had it is horrible. I get it, one dev, I get it never had it before but you do understand why all the other Stronghold are still played to this day (except one)? Cause multiplayer with Ai. Just makes this game more playable with friends. It's just now I can't recommend it to my friend's cause of something so simple.

I have had a break from D2 since vaulting...it's been about a year or so. Dlc's stopped being vaulted and so did weapons, redone Light subclass, and this Dlc getting praised was a step to make the think about coming back. I left a clan I made alone and I felt bad as I truly loved this game...then I found out the things they don't tell you about.

You buy a Dlc, the Dlc has half the content missing cause you need to then spend...another 2k silver (for people living in the Uk that's another £16.79) for dungeons, dungeons that were FREE in the best Dlc Forsaken and not so best Shadowkeep. Forsaken is now apparently gone cause that's a great idea to not upset you players. The "praised crafting" is also locked behind...this Dlc. They pretended to care by increasing the vault to a measly 100 more storage space, and on top of ALL THIS they have the cheek to increase the base price of everything, Silver included and Dlcs for less content. The new Dlc is a piss take, continuing the same trend of bad.

I can't wait to hear that raids will be taken out of Dlc's also for another 2k Silver or bundled in the "Complete Complete Edition" of the game. Did Sony buy them or EA?

Honestly one of the worst, most greedy Gatchas and MMOs I have ever played...and boy have a played a bunch of both. Hell I'm saying this having even played Genshin Impact, and we all know how loving and generous Mihoyo is... Anyway, ToF as this game is known is just a mess from anywhere you look. The voice acting is cringe, the animations (outside of non in game cut scenes) is appalling, the classic Steam stuttering and lag has yet not been fixed (at the time of writing this) and even with the new "world level" aspect of the game, bosses and more "difficult" content seems impossible to find players for. Let alone everything else, we haven't even spoken about the terrible grind, bad but better than Genshin's pity and Gatcha system and of course our beloved and loved power creep from...certain character(s). Plus the amount of sexualised characters this game has, you could literally mistake it for a porno.
I’m only comparing it to Genshin a lot as they did that to themselves after calling themselves the Genshin killer…yeah…about that.

Like they can’t be bothered with their game, this is all I can be bothered with a review.

"Can't start game, crashes on startup, for a game that came out in 2017 this is embarrassing especially as it hasn't been fixed in 5 years and as there doesn't seem to be an actual fix after searching. Yes verified files, no don't have Citrix installed, yes I have updated all the drivers and yes this is a clean download.
I have sent Kalypso an email as well with all 6 error logs...here's hoping their response changes this review.

I'm keeping previous review for a log of what happened.

Now I can run the game and thankfully from a quick response (I believe it only took them a day to respond to my email) the game works. I googled around and really annoyingly you can't find the answer unless you email them, or hopefully read this review. Alas it's on the drivers fault, if you own an NVIDIA then you can get this response as help.

So yeah thanks Felix, hope this helps others, but yeah to make the game work...alas you gotta download a hotfix, seems a few games had issues.

Can't get multiplayer to work, can't get to go online, buggy as hell 2 years later and just simply underwhelming. I really wanted to love this game as I adore dog fighting games, this is for sure a no-brainer to me. I really wanted to avoid the reviews and people saying how dead it is, but sadly after checking Steamdb today's highest peak was 200 players...If I could get in a multiplayer game I would experience that for myself but I can't. Both me and my partner couldn't "reconnect" so it's not just "git gud pc/internet" I'm honestly really gutted, even if it's an EA game as I LOVE SPACE FLIGHT GAMES! I'm defo refunding this and would advice everyone to not get this, sadly EA doesn't even care.

Just close your eyes and imagine yourself, right now, that a zombie outbreak is happening now this second in real life. No random new skills learned, no guns blazing against everyone in your town/city, no crazy hero stunts. You, right now, how you are, what on earth would you do if everyone around you and people you knew are the walking dead. It's real, it's gritty, it's depressing and no one is going to save you, not even your friends...they are probably out there, found a gun and firing the damn thing when you told them not to.

Or you could just imagine the Covid-19 outbreak was a zombie outbreak and see how you acted then...yeah we both know you would be infected by now.

Paid content removed how is this legal Steam? This whole game should not be allowed to make temporary content like this especially if it costs, like the new one £100 for everything. £100 for things to get deleted in 2 years...

Darkest Dungeon 2 is now an Epic exclusive, I hope they enjoy Timmies money.
