they took the most simple game in the world and made it unbearably pretentious

Look, I've never enjoyed CSGO's gameplay, but I had respect for it as a game. I mean, I loved booting it up just to play surf. And I was really excited at the idea of a Source 2 remake/port/whatever! But deleting the original entirely? Especially when community servers don't even work yet?? And when a lot of people probably can't even run CS2? I'd expect nothing more from Blizzard or EA, but Valve? The only major gaming corporation I actually had the slightest bit of trust in?? Very disappointed. I mean, I'll be *personally* happy once I can play surf again, but that doesn't fix the larger issue here...

This game is dirty and it makes me feel dirty. Ik that sounds weird as ♥♥♥♥ but idk how else to describe it.

A hard game should be hard because it's pushing the limits of it's own rules. A hard game should not be hard because it has terrible unchangeable controls, inconsistent enemy intelligence, and graphics and sound design that literally induce migraines. Anyone who says this is their favorite game needs to try eating ice cream, watching a comedy, doing self-care, etc. With so much fun to be had in life, why you would spend it on this miserable trash heap is beyond me. Anyways, queue the clown emoji reactions.

In 1998, Half-Life changed the gaming industry with its blend of fps gameplay and immersive worldbuilding and story.
In 2004, Half-Life 2 changed the gaming industry by using realistic simulated physics to immerse the player further into its world.
In 2020, Half-Life: Alyx (hopefully) changed the gaming industry by proving that a AAA story-driven game like Half-Life can work in fully immersive VR.

If you haven't played it before, don't. This game is too clunky and outdated to be functional in 2023, much less fun. I'm sure the writing is as good as everyone says, but it quite simply does not work. I'm leaving the comments open on this one, so don't spam this with clown awards. If you actually have something to add, by all means, comment it.

If you want to play an all time classic from this era, play Half-Life.
If you want to play something with good writing/commentary, play the original Fallout games.
If you want something less unreasonably complicated, play Fallout New Vegas.
But trust me, don't even bother with Deus Ex in 2023.
