Update to Review:

I was one of the people that were positive about this game in Season 1. I felt it needed some refinement and hoping to feel able to defend a little better with Season 2. I played it for myself, and yeah, the game is no longer fun to play. I've been playing Tekken since the 1st game, and as much as I don't want to see the franchise die, what they did in this game might kill it. I hope they can fix things, but the developers ignorance on what the fans want is insane. I went back to Street Fighter 6 last night, and man, it feels so good to actually feel like you can defend yourself. I do not recommend this game right now. If they fix things, T8 is a really fun game at its core, but man they F'd this up.

Original Review:

I have been playing Tekken since the first. I played with friends in room before T6, since that was the only way to play back then, and then T6 started with online. T7 was where I feel like I learned more about the game than I ever had. I enjoyed it and had a lot of fun with it.

Now comes T8, and despite the negativity, I am having a blast with it. I've never been a competitor, and have been more of an intermediate player rather than a pro. That being said, I don't believe I see the wild imbalances that are reported by pros, probably because im not squeezing the mechanics as hard as the pros do. Some characters seem strong, but those get played more often, and I feel like I can learn their BS moves easier because of that and learn to counter them.

That is what is so much fun about it. The more you play, the more you get comfortable with what you know, and then start to use other elements of gameplay that you haven't been using yet. There is a lot to think about while you are playing. The mental gymnastics you have to perform during a match feels like so much fun to me. I still have fun even when I lose because I feel myself getting better all the time.

I feel like sidestepping in T7 was easier and more useful than this game, which is a criticism with this game. I get that. I do wish sidestepping felt better, but overall I am having so much fun with this game. I have been working on blocking lows, or even jumping over them with a punish kick because of this.

It is still Tekken, and it feels different with all of the systems in play and the changes to certain mechanics, but to me, it is so much freaking fun. I might be having more fun with it than T7. It might be due to the fact that some of my training in T7 translates over to T8 and I didn't have to learn Xiaoyu's move list as extensively as I did in T7. I feel like some of the gameplay systems may have been inspired by SoulCalibur 6 gameplay, which I freaking loved. That might be why the pros don't like it, because it adds systems to the pure gameplay that T7 and prior games had. I can understand that, but these new systems mix up gameplay that has been pretty similar for 30ish years.

Adding the in game shop post launch was pretty scummy. I feel like if they would have launched the game with it, there would have been backlash, but they would have been upfront with their intentions. I feel like that would have helped the optics of this game. Nobody likes being lied to. Once that happens, trust erodes. They did it not only once, but twice with the fight pass. Definitely a scummy move, especially considering the added content so far has been pretty damn lame. The costumes are from previous games. To me they look touched up, but I haven't looks super close to them. Xiaoyu's DLC dress from T4 looked good to me. But the items in the fight pass are from previous games, and do not look touched up. Heck, a lot of customization items already in the game are from previous games, and look awful. A lot of these items make your character look like they are from a x360 game. Im sure the samurai helmet is. The textures are low resolution and the polygon count is low for the helmet. Its kind of crazy.

Despite this, The game is so much freaking fun to me. I really hope they step up the support of the game with good balance patches that pros like and new content that doesn't appear to be minimal effort, especially if you are going to try to snuff out mods, which I am pretty sure wont effect the store, since online players can't see mods. Players like to show off their costumes, which makes mods not that appealing to a large player base.

This game had an amazing launch, and they have really dropped the ball since. I still recommend as I think you will have a blast with it if you are a fighting game fan. I can only hope they actually improve the game to T7 standards.

It will show very little playtime from me for this game, but I have played through it. Before my bro got his pc, he had the streaming service Amazon Luna. And when Luna worked well, we played River City Girls! River City Girls is superb! One of the most enjoyable beat em ups ive played as of recent! Streets of Rage 4 is the new high bar for skill based beat em ups, but if you want an RPGish Beat em up, River City Girls is for you! Great action and combos! Great leveling system where you can buy new moves and perks! Tons of personality with all characters, from the protagonists, to the bosses, and even the grunt enemies you see throughout the game! The unlockable characters are a lot of fun to play as well! The soundtrack is totally awesome too! There are a few songs that you will probably get stuck in your head! I bought it on sale, even though it was still $20. I had to buy it to: A) show my support of how much I liked this game, and B) Just needed it in my collection because of how much I liked it! If you want a beat em up that can be challenging, but more than anything, just fun to play through, get River City Girls! I highly doubt you will regret it!

Really really fun game! At first, it felt like nothing super special, but I felt it had potential. On normal and hard difficulties, the cars don't move that fast, and you barely even have to drift to make it around the track. That made it feel somewhat bland to me. But once you make it to expert difficulty, your car actually feels like it is moving quickly! You actually need to drift around many of the corners, and follow a racing line. Not every racing game requires you to follow a racing line to win. Racing lines are a real life racing concept that not every game requires. But just like sumo digital's past racing games, this one does, and I really enjoy that about this game! If you don't know what a racing line is, Google racing lines explained. It will help you out with this game, and other racing games too!

Do you like track/lap based racing games? Do you like arcade controls and drifting? Do you like kart racers, and want one that doesn't have weapons? Pick up Hotshot! When you can finally git gud and win on expert, the game becomes even more fun!

Are you a fan of the mainline EDF series? Were you confused as to why a game like this would be developed, especially when it appears that this game looses the huge amounts of enemies the series is known for? I certainly was. I certainly had my reservations. Im glad that I finally bit the bullet and tried it!

When playing this game, it feels like an EDF game. Looking at trailers, it looked too different to me, but luckily they get the feel right. Does it feel exactly like the mainline EDF? No, it is a bit different. There are less enemies, but you will be surprised that the amount of enemies gets higher than you were expecting. It gets the feel of the mainline EDF games for sure. It also introduces a lot of its own ideas. You can use any weapon in the game with any class. You can customize the look of your character and use it in any class. It has similar enemy types as mainline EDF, but puts its own twists on them. Bottom line, if you love EDF, you will probably really enjoy this game too.

In the mainline EDF games, the dialogue is so bad its good! Its fun and memorable, and in 5, it gives more context to what is happening. In this game, its just flat out bad. It tries to be funny and ends up being super lame. It gives no context to what you are doing. In 5, I wanted to hear all of it. Here, I can do without it. This is one area this game is really lacking in.

To me, it feels like the publisher wanted to upgrade EDF's graphics. When doing so, they realized they couldn't make it exactly like the mainline EDF games, so they made this a spinoff, and still made the mainline games so that fans weren't upset. What has happened as a result is 2 games that feel very similar with enough differences to make them feel like different games. If they could combine what is in both games into one game, that would be totally awesome!

Then the main reason this game has mixed reviews is probably because of how bad of a port it is. Like how did D3 publisher think releasing a game with this bad of a port was a good idea? In order to go above 80% rendering resolution, you need to use a mod. To set a resolution above 1080p, you need to use a cheat program called Unreal Universal Unlocker, and change the resolution every time you start up the game. Thats pretty piss poor for sure! Im not a programmer, but if the community can figure out how to get around it, why wouldn't you have some people patch the game to be able to do this without mods and cheat programs? You would certainly sell more copies!

But if you have played a ton of EDF 4.1 and 5 like my brother and I have, want more EDF while wanting something a bit fresh feeling, you should really play this game. Putting up with the terrible port is really lame, but worth it if you want more EDF action! Lets just hope both of the next EDF games are amazing ports!

You've heard about it. You watched plenty of videos of people playing it. It looks like a blast. You've watched enough videos that you see that it might not be very deep and repetitive. But you still want to try it! I had to give in. While I don't regret my purchase, its everything i expected. Im sure the game will expand and become even better, so when that happens, I already have my ticket to the show. But do I see myself playing this by myself very often? No. This is probably better played with friends when you want to play a game, but have a conversation at the same time. Implement Split Screen into this game, and I am sure my play time will rise quite a bit!

Burnout Paradise is one of my favorite games ever! Completed it and played online on Xbox 360. Completed it and played online when I got it on PC years later. And I think Ill probably do it again! Way too much fun! The game really gets fun when you get use to being able to navigate the city. Once you get good at that, this game is an absolute blast!

This game is about 12 years old, so there isn't much I can say that you can't find somewhere else. It just boggles my mind why EA dismantled Criterion after this, and on top of it, never made a full fledged sequel to this game! total insanity!! Leave it to EA to bungle the ♥♥♥♥ out of everything.

Speaking of bungling... this game has some bugs that cause it to crash for a decent amount of users. It happened to me. I had to uninstall software that lets me use my cell phone as a webcam. But once I did that, this game works perfectly! Hopefully you either dont encounter this, or find an easy fix, because this game is worth it despite EA not patching this.

SOR4 is the new bar for modern beat em ups! It uses SOR2+3 as the backbone and adds juggle mechanics. Sure, I wasn't too keen on that at the beginning, but it makes it feel like it has evolved a little bit, and more modern of course. The new playable characters are a lot of fun! The enemy types have even more specific attacks that you need to pay attention to than you use to in the past. In large ways, enemies of the past could all be confronted in a similar way. Not here. When you see an enemy, you need to know what they are capable of, and play accordingly. Very well designed, tons of fun! And even though in the original games you could damage other players, here, its best to turn off player character damage, because it gets hectic, and you are going to need to be able to team up against the enemy without worrying about hitting eachother to succeed! I didn't want to turn it off because thats how the originals were, but its the way to play this entry!

The original SOR games were easily some of the best beat em ups of all time, even compared to modern beat em ups. Is this game better than the originals? I can't say better, but it stands toe to toe. All other modern beat em ups are going to have to up their game! The only complaint I have is the characters can't run like they could in SOR3, with the exception of Cherry and the unlockable SOR3 characters. That was a very confusing design choice in my opinion, but the game is still so good, that if you aren't having fun, then beat em ups in general are not for you, and chances are, you are an overly negative person that just likes to hate everything.

MK11 is a ton of fun! It is known to not be the most balanced, but if you look a tier list, and pick someone that is a bit higher up the list, you will be fine. Apparently there are no bad fighters, just some that are better than others, but that is every fighting game, including the current champ, Tekken 7. MK11 is designed with fun above all else, and it succeeds! Lots of modes, tons to unlock, really fun Kombat system. Like any good fighting game, the more you learn, the more fun it is! If you like fighting games, and this game has appealed to you for awhile, you are probably going to like it. I feel it can appease casual players and more hardcore players alike.

If you haven't been buying it for the reason of initially people saying the grind of getting all items is too much, don't worry about it. You don't need to earn every item. It isn't going to give you much of an advantage over other people. Its mostly cosmetic. From what I can tell, there are no gear pieces that are overpowered, so you are fine. If you haven't bought it because you feel there is some SJW thing going on with the females, get over yourself. What a non argument. No, they don't have basketball sized breasts anymore, or shaped like Jessica Rabbit. But they are still hot looking! Maybe besides older Sonya, but younger Sonya looks freaking hot. Its just an artistic choice, and I appreciate that they look more realistic.

If you buy a fighting game, expect there to be future DLC that might cost $30 to $40 in the future. Its how they keep it updated an more relevant. You don't need all the characters to play against others that do own them. I play Tekken 7 and Soul Calibur 6 from time to time, and I don't own the latest season passes. Its just fine because I probably won't play those DLC characters anyways! Some people just can't be happy with anything....

This is a super casual MetroidVania. There is no way to lose or die. If you need a really easy going game, this is a good choice. The pinball elements are minimal. There are sections here and there that are shaped like a pinball board. There are a few things in this game that exist on a real pinball table, but for the most part, it isn't a deep pinball experience. It mostly uses flippers as a way to traverse around the map. Its neat, but if you are someone that actually understands how real pinball works, it might not be as satisfying as you may have hoped. Overall I recommend if you need a really easygoing time and dont want to worry about losing.

Holy Cow! Freedom Planet is an Excellent game! Overwhelming Positive review score on Steam! It fully deserves it! The game initially looks like a Sonic clone. Thats a big reason it took me so long to buy it. I wish it hadn't taken me so long!

While inspired by Sonic, it is definitely its own thing. Each character plays completely differently, making the game feel fresh with each playthrough. Right off the bat, you notice that you don't get hurt when running into enemies. You only take damage when they attack you. You don't attack enemies by jumping into them or rolling into them, you actually have your own attacks! Kicks, punches, and special moves!

Lilac plays most like Sonic. She runs the fastest, and is the easiest character to pick up. She can't reach full speed running on flat land, rather she has to run down a hill to reach that speed. She has hair whip attacks, kicks, and an uppercut. Her special attack is a boost that makes her instantly run at full speed while causing a lot of damage to enemies and making her invincible. It honestly took me about half way through to start really, really liking this game. The game becomes challenging, which lets be honest, Sonic games have never really been super challenging. The levels can be challenging, but some of the later bosses is where it gets harder, and a lot more fun! Lilac is a great character to ease you into how this game works.

Carol isn't as fast as Lilac. She can run quickly, but she makes the game feel less like Sonic because she moves at a slower pace. Her playthrough was even more fun for me! I really enjoyed playing as Carol! She has a claw attack that isn't as damaging as Lilacs attacks, but she has a pounce attack that you either do by double jump and then pushing attack, or while crouching, push jump then attack. Using the pounce attack makes Carols gameplay a lot of fun, as it is the most damaging attack she has, and you have to be a little strategic to use it. If you need to play it a little more safe, Carols special attack is a Chun-li like kick that also makes her invincible. She can also roll into a ball by pushing down on the d-pad and do damage like... Sonic. She can also wall jump straight up walls. She can also ride her motorcycle, which makes her move much faster, gives her some more hitpoints, and even changes her attacks! You won't play most of her game on the motorcycle, but it is a lot of fun when you get it! I really enjoyed Carols playthrough!

Milla is comletely different! She is also not a super fast character. She can charge up a cube that she holds above her head. She can either throw it, or if you push the special attack button while holding it, she will create a shield that deflects all enemy projectiles right back at them, and when released, she will let loose a charged blast at enemies. If you don't have a cube charged up, you can still use the shield, it just isn't as big, and the blast she omits when releasing the shield is much smaller as well. If you hold jump, she will flutter her arms and legs to reach higher areas. Millas playthrough was certainly the most unique! I really enjoyed it as well!

The soundtrack to Freedom Planet is also superb! I rarely buy game albums. I bought the Freedom Planet Soundtrack! Great pulse pounding music with tunes that will get stuck in your head!

All around amazing product that you should get if it looks like something you might like! You probably will! I absolutely recommend Sonic Mania, but wow, I think I like Freedom Planet better! I never thought I would say that! And I played this game just in time! Looks like Freedom Planet 2 is comming out soon! I can't wait!
