Early Access Review
Destiny 2, but it is a medieval fantasy rogue-lite.

That title really says it all. The gunplay and movement are clearly heavily inspired by Destiny 2 - and that is a good thing! Gameplay feels smooth and polished and shooting is satisfying. Upgrading gear also is reminiscent of Destiny 2 bounties.

The zones get a little bit of randomization with different enemy placement and events for each run, keeping things a bit fresh. However, zones still become fairly repetitive pretty quickly, although enemy encounters definitely ramp up quite a bit as you progress through the game, so the challenge level definitely does not get dull anytime soon.

If you like Destiny 2 for the gameplay but hate everything else about it and want a bit of a fresh and fun take, this game is a good pick. If you have not played Destiny 2 but like the idea of Witchfire, I can still recommend it, but given the somewhat limited number of environments, I would suggest waiting on a sale.

How to determine whether you will enjoy Cyberpunk 2077 in one simple question:

Did you enjoy Skyrim at release? If yes, then you will enjoy Cyberpunk 2077. If not, then you won't.

CP2077 is essentially the new Skyrim, with all its goods and bads. Awesome big and beautiful world to explore, tons of fun side content, janky loot and inventory system and plenty of bugs and glitches and middling performance. The only thing differing from a typical Bethesda RPG is actually good writing and characters.

If you did not mind the issues in most Bethesda RPGs at release, then you will likely not mind them here either. If you did, then oh boy, better wait for them to get fixed by CDPR or the community (or probably both).

Disclaimer: I am a huge Ace Combat fan and have played and enjoyed pretty much all the Ace Combat fans.

So the big question: does this game deliver if you expect more Ace Combat action? Absolutely 110%!

It looks, sounds and feels like Ace Combat. The only real difference is the name. Other than that, it absolutely delivers everything you would expect. Lots of dog fighting action, combined arms wars, ridiculous writing that servers no other purpose than to give a reason to send you into bonkers engagements. All the Ace Combat cliches are covered. Base assault, mountain runs, naval battles, flying fortresses, experimental weapons and overpowered villain squadrons - it is all there just the way you would expect it to.

And all of that for less than half as much as AC7 cost at release? An amazing deal.

100% recommended.

A generally great game, however with every new league every three months, a ton of issues and bugs get introduced every time. Particularly at its current state in the Heist league, I unfortunately can no longer recommend the game.

From zero to hero: if only the game had been shipped the way it is today. Hello Games redeemed themselves. Instead of just sitting on the money, they decided to fix the mess they left and by now it has become a game very much worth recommending to everyone into the genre. In fact, I would say it is on a level with Subnautica now, with better ressource management, base building, more features and scale as well as polished controls and, of course, full multiplayer, but lacking behind a bit in the narrative department.

Definitely worth a shot during a sale in particular.

The game is fairly short, about 2 hours. But it is definitely worth checking out if that does not discourage you.

It is an interesting and unique experience and I am glad the prototype got finished into such a nice, experimental piece of art.

You might argue that it is more of a 'walking' simulator, but with its interesting twist, I think it is still worthwhile.
