Honestly I want to like this game. I had a lot of fun in the demo too.

But I can't.
I don't manage to have fun anymore because of how frustrating every moment of it is.
You may see me again playing it and if you listen closely through your window you may hear me "being frustrated"

First of let's start with the blatant issues regarding network code, which is so bad there isn't one level I'm going through with a friend without a couple minutes of us lagging to death.
Now add the chance for you to crash like it happened after 1h30 in a level as I was hitting the cinematic of the boss, not only reseting the progress in the level but also all levels and loot I got while running through it.

To talk about design, I think a lot of things are straight up downgrades from Nioh 2. The coop experience is worse because you cannot stay in coop and go to the blacksmith or other important NPCs. So you have to stop the coop, do your thing and recreate the lobby. It's not that much of a big deal but why isn't it like in Nioh 2?

The element system I think isn't quite right. Too many things are tied to elements so it becomes suboptimal to do certain combinations of things, I won't get into details. I personnaly also prefered the way progression (with loot) was handled in Nioh but that's really a personnal preference.

Now let's talk about the parry system. I like to think that this game is to Nioh what Sekiro is to Dark Souls, at least in term of combat. Like sekiro, Wo Long has a heavy emphasis on perfect parrying things. Issue is that it's kinda botched.
The parry button is on the dodge button, as opposed to Sekiro having it on the guard button. This prevents you from effectively guarding without having to press an other button, in case you miss your parry. I'm not sure why they chose this. I think you also cannot cancel attack animations with a parry so it's easy to get screwed by an attack especially with slower weapons.
My main complaint though is how hard the animations can be to read sometimes. I'm playing coop with 1 or 2 friends, and when we are both attacking a monster, it becomes almost impossible to get the timing of attacks right or sometimes even know who it's attacking.

I could also touch on the morale system that I'm not too fan of or the invasions that have been a terrible experience so far (because you can simply disable invasions) but they are here too.

All in all, I have a hard time believing it's the same studio behind Nioh 2. Nioh 2 was a way more enjoyable experience and all this game did so far is make me want to play Nioh.
This is a shame because it has potential to be enjoyable but really the frustration kills it for me.

Well, well, well, Total War Warhammer II.

I played Napoleon, Medieval II, Rome II, Three Kingdoms, Warhammer I and II, and to be honest, Warhammer II is the best total war game until now, in my humble opinion.

Warhammer I and Warhammer II offer things that historical total wars cannot:

- a huge diversity of gameplays :
each factions and races are different, both in army playstyles and in campaign mechanics. It is really hard for me to go back to historical games where all units are kinda the same (I'm looking at ya Three Kingdoms). In Warhammer, you also have a huge diversity of unit types. Of course you get the cavalry, spearmen and swordmen, but also monstrous infantry, single entity monsters, flying units, wizards and lores of magic, etc...

- magic:
Each factions has access to at least one type of spellcaster, and most of the time different lores of magic. When I started playing Warhammer I and II, I was like "pf, magic is for noobies", and then I saw that video with the skink priest getting like 800 kills... now I use magic too.
A huge diversity of spells anc lores offer you buffs, debuffs, offensive spells of different size and shapes that can really win you the battle (#WindOfDeath).

- the biggest campaign yet:
owning both Warhammer I and II give you access to the "Mortal Empire" campaign : a huge map with all the factions of both games. I'm not a fan of the Warhammer II Vortex campaign, but the motal empire is nuts. The only downside being waiting time between turns after ~150 or so.

To sum things up: knowing nothing about the Warhammer universe is NOT an issue. I myself started Warhammer I without any knowledge whatsoever about Warhammer.

If you never played a total war game, starting with Warhammer (I) can be a good idea.
If you already played Warhammer I, then why are you looking at this dumb review?
If you onl played historical total war games, give warhammer a try. You might not be "one of those pesky fantasy nerds", but fanstasy or not, it's very good total war anyway. And who knows, you might enjoy it!

This game is a really tough one.

To begin with, the arts are great, really. The soundtrack is nice (but can be a bit repetitive since the themes loops until you get to the boss).
But chances are you are here for the gameplay, and the gameplay is really ineresting. It has enough differences with other card RL (like Slay the Spire) to be worth playing even if you own them, the vanishing cards mechanic is really promising, and ennemy designs are good with a lot of diversity.
And you can change Reina's clothes :o

HOWEVER this core-gameplay mechanic of vanishing cards brings a loooot of balancing issues:

- card with percentages feel like not worth it (Zero Evade -> 50% evade attacks)

- lots of good cards are too situational (most of buff/debuff dependant cards)

- you get a lot of dead cards (not worth using them (Provoke), turn order not good enough (Focus), lack of card for synergy (Sharpened)) and become even more dead since you loose your non-dead cards

- you can get a lot of dead cards in bundles that will just make your deck less playable until you get to a campfire/boss

- a bit too dependant of redraws against stronger oponents

- the ennemy design is too good sometimes, compared to what you can achieve with your deck, and far over-power you

But it would be sad to remove that mechanic of course.

I personnaly reached level 3, and the first ennemy I encountered was just too strong. This is common with rogue-likes, forcing you to learn everytime you die, but this one currently feels like it's just not possible.
The game has a huge potential though, and could become a really good one. That's why I give it a thumb up for now.
The dev is currently releasing balance patches, so I think the game will definintely get better.
I'll update this review when new major patches will be released.

I pre-ordered a realistic game, but since the devs decided to change everything and made an "Esport-friendly fast paced game", I kinda didn't got what I paid for in the first place, but I still decided to give it a go.

Now that the full release came out, I decided to test it with a few friend, and god it feels bad....

It's something between CS:GO and CoD : a fast-paced FPS where skills matters way more than luck or balance. However, it feels clunky and uneven.

On one hand you have:
- jump shots and quickscopes
- speed and low TTK
- full close-quarter maps

But imo a lot of things just kill the speed:
- crouching, ADS and proning take ages (and it's not CS:GO, you cannot hipfire all the time)
- running punishes you (hard to shoot back at someone a few frames after the run)
- running cancels your reload when jumping does not even stop it for some reason
- if you try to go prone while running or a few frames after, you will do half of the animation before standing back

This gives you a fast paced game when almost half of your actions are breaking your momentum and leaving you vulnerable....

On top of that it seems there is no anti-cheat...

Also, they wanted to do like CS:GO and go skin lootboxes... I don't like that but whatever....

Anyway, I can understand some can enjoy this game, but since I paid for a realistic game and got a (imo) bad wannabe CS:GO X CoD, no I'm not satisfied.

Should you buy it?
Imo, it's a no. Just stick with CS or CoD.

One of my favourite games. Feels a bit empty when playing vanilla but incredibly durable with mods :)

Early Access Review
Well, Days of War has gone through quite the upgrade since the early access days.
I really congratulate the dev team for not letting the game die!

I'll definitely keep an eye on it for the upcoming year.

However some things are stil a bit unclear for me :

- victory conditions : I don't really understand why we win/lose most of the time
- spawn camping : on Torch I noticed that spawn camping is a bit too easy (british side)
- inconsistent bots : bots can miss you multiple times as well as headshot you when passing in front of a window

Also, I don't really understand what kind of (UX) user experience the game is trying to achieve.
The maps, match format and overall feeling make me think of a fast-paced shooter (kind of like CS:GO).
However the gunplay and character movements are more reminding me of more realistic-ish games (high recoil, only deployable MGs, slow prone, etc...).

Do I recommend the game? Ummm, Idk for the time being, let's see how the game will evolve (especially the UX part).

Hopefully the devs can take my review as a feedback c:
Agin, good job.

This review introduces the whole game, and considers the clichés one could have heard. If you want more details, comments are free.

Please note concerning my 2k+h of playtime that I'm playing this game for years, and during those years it has changed A LOT.

What can we say about that game, beacuse it can change so easliy...

Let's start with the beginning : Heroes And Generals is a free2play MMOFPS which takes place during WW II (however it isn't 100% historicaly accurate). You can play as Germany, America, Russia or even the three at the same time (however that's not recommended for beginners). Control a character on the battlefield (FPS), or/and assault teams on the generals' map (RTS).

The graphics aren't too ugly but quite outdated however sounds are currently... meh. The gameplay itself is where people will disagree on wether is good or bad. IMO it's currently worth trying.

Let's talk about the free2play/pay2win aspect. It is NOT P2W unlike what some reviews could say, because you can buy EVERYTHING (including the premium membership) with the in-game currency (credits): weapons, modifications, or even those flashy camouflages everyone seems to like. The main default, for casual-gamers, is that the credits are earnt quite slowly if you don't have a cheap and effective build and a bit of experience....

Now, the pros and cons :

PROS :
- Free, not P2W but a bit Pay Or Farm
- Both RTS and FPS (don't play for the RTS though)
- Possibility to play various types of infantry, tankists, plane pilots, snipers, paratroopers at the
same time.
- A lot of available weapons, explosives and gears for a lot of various builds.
- Possibility to have several characters of all three factions on the same account, and to switch between them during a game (of the faction you're playing, if the type is available).
- Quite "E for everyone" : no gore, no real violence, not hardcore. That could be considered a con too.

CONS :
- Sounds are far from good
- Experience and money come slowly...
- The RTS part comes when you have a lv12 character (but that's not unattainable)
- Hardly any teamplay with random players. Playing with friends is highly advised.

Nonwithstanding all of this, weapons can also be modded to increase the damages, the accuracy etc... while decreasing other stats. This is a good point because you can have several gameplay possibilities with a single weapon, depending on how you mod it. For example the starter semi-automatic rifle can be upgraded to be deadly accurate (scope) or to have high rate of fire and damages (cqc). But beware, some builds could be expensive.

I also want to open a parenthesis about those who say that factions aren't balanced: this is not the truth. Indeed, weapons can have different stats, but each weapon is better than its counterparts in certain situations.

I would recommend to play with friends, because you can be far more efficient when you communicate with someone and it is also way funnier.

If you are interested in more details about the game or some specific part, write a little comment. Thanks for wasting your time on my review!
