Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty is one of those titles that probably won't change anyone's life, but it will drag you into its world if you're foolish enough to let yourself get captured, like yours truly.
Developed by Team Ninja, the same team behind Nioh, Ninja Gaiden, and Dead or Alive, Wo Long is a game that's entirely similar to Nioh in every way, sometimes feeling like a well-crafted mod for it. If you don't know Nioh, well, it's a sort of alternative souls-like that starts from FromSoftware's formula but expands into very different territory. The loot system, storytelling, and game maps are straight out of Nioh, with the difference being that the plot—this usual mix of ancient history and legend—takes place in China during the Three Kingdoms period (184-280 AD). The differences, however, lie in the progression system, which is much simplified compared to other titles, rewarding experimentation with different builds once you understand the 5 elements system, which replaces classic RPG stats. The pace is frenetic, with combat that's less tactical than Nioh's but more oriented toward a deflection and posture-break system, similar to Sekiro's. The difficulty isn't particularly high, except for sporadic peaks, mostly in the three DLC areas and the final maps. Since many contents and some QoL features were added with the extremely expensive DLCs (which I luckily found at a bargain price), the feeling is that many of these features (including multiplayer with co-op and PvP) were added in a somewhat unorganic way, barely enriching the experience. The third DLC has more interesting endgame content, but at the end of my playthrough where I got every single trophy, I have to say that NG+ isn't exactly inviting. In conclusion, I believe Wo Long is a rock-solid action RPG with some souls-like elements (according to Team Ninja's vision) but not a particularly memorable title.
If you look past some optimization issues, Wo Long can be an interesting title for those seeking frenetic combat and respectable difficulty, but without the punitive mechanics of a true souls-like; for those who prefer simpler, more linear exploration over complicated interconnected worlds; for those who want to enjoy a story instead of groping in the dark trying to piece together events from clues.
I recommend it on sale, though.

Pretty decent game with some jank. Only downside I can think of is that the bosses are simply too easy, overall a fun experience.
