An exquisite action RPG. Tons of content with very polished combat and meaningful build choices. Team Ninja are my current favorite when it comes to action games and they haven't let me down yet.

If you liked Nioh, you should enjoy this. Some of the boss fights can be very difficult.

Wo Long is..... fine. It's not even close quality-wise to Nioh 1 or 2, but even if you aren't comparing the game to them, it's got problems.

Wo Long STILL suffers from major performance problems. I've got a state of the art computer with a 4080 and it still has fps dips in most levels. They aren't game-breaking, since most fights occur in very barren arenas, but the fact that my computer is struggling at all with the game is insane.

Animations are janky, in and out of cutscenes. I've accidentally glitched into an infinite jump multiple times because my character bounced off the geometry.

Art design subjective, but I feel the game fails in that, too. It's got very dark, muddy colors to it. Honestly, I think that it looks pretty decent in the brighter battlefields, but most battlefields are dark, with some burning buildings around.

Most fights force you to be on the defensive. The majority of bosses have long combos that only leave enough of an opening to get one Light Combo in, and maybe a Heavy/Spirit Attack. I've found with most bosses it's extremely inefficient to use Martial Skills in any capacity, other than when you break their stance. Even then, Martial skills don't really do much more than a Light Combo into a Heavy/Spirit attack, I just usually use them to do something that looks cool, not because it's useful.

Weapons have very generic movesets compared to other Souls-Likes, instead only having uniqueness in their passive gimmicks and speed of attack. Which basically means that certain fights give you a huge incentive for you to use a lighter weapon.

Martial arts being tied to weapon drops is kinda insane. Yes, you can change them, but it's still a step removed from your control. The only reason why this isn't that bad is because, yet again, Martial Arts are fairly inefficient across the board.

Oh, and I forgot. The Camera. Holy crap, the camera in this game seems worse than any other Soul's-like game I've played. It zooms way too close to your lock-on target, so if there's any enemies to your side they're usually out of view. Switching targets to other enemies won't take distance into effect, so sometimes you'll be trying to swap to the closest enemy, and you'll suddenly target the archer that's on the building above you. It's REALLY bad.

Now, don't get me wrong, Wo Long is a fine game. If this were Team Ninja's first foray into a Souls-like/Sekiro like game, then it'd be pretty good. But it's clear when compared to Nioh 1 and 2, that Wo Long was absolutely rushed out the door, with major issues either not noticed, or not addressed.

At the end of the day, I wish that I could give the game an okay score...

It's not bad, but definitely get it on sale, and don't feel compelled to play completely through it. There's no moment that changes to combat or story to be better. You're either going to enjoy it from the get go or not.
