this game is really really awesome

it feels like it shouldn't work, but it does. it's a grid-based fighting game card game bullet hell, and it slaps.

This review is only about the gameplay; I felt like the plot was fine enough for the genre, and hence will not be weighing in on that matter.

This game is weird. It's too easy, even with every difficulty option turned to max. The start is fine, the middle is incredible, and then they give you an ability that is so strong it dominates all of the diverse problem solving techniques the middle of the game excels at.

It's around 14 hours to 100%, and I do think it's a great experience overall. The Rewind mechanic feels incredible: you use it constantly. And when it's at the peak, it feels almost like a puzzle game, figuring out how to exactly spend your resources and time to weave through attacks using all your abilities.

When the gameplay hits, it really hits, and you really feel free.

Slightly held back by repetitive level visuals (even if they are beautiful) making it harder to feel a sense of progress, but overall good game and well worth it if you like 2d platformers.

Warning: It's a fairly easy roguelite.

update: after playing 75 more hours from the initial review: this game can get really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard at higher hell passes; apparently most people do not in fact find it easy; the game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ amazing for both focusing and kinda just autopiloting, just so much fun and flow.
