Level design is greatly improved from the base game, no more copy pasted corridors.

A great and classic game.

FYI native linux version is inferior to the windows version. Patches arrive months late, mutiplayer is not supported and many mods are not compatible. Just run it with proton instead. Of course it will install native by default, so you'll have another huge download when you choose proton compatibility. Another dumb move by CA, paying feral interactive to make their game worse.

This PC port makes a bunch of bad changes to a great game.

Core gameplay is mostly unchanged.

For starters theres a 30% chance my pc will freeze for several minutes while loading a mission, and its not possible to open task manager or do anything on my second monitor when this happens. Sometimes it recovers, but sometimes I have to manually restart my computer.
Secondly the new menus are as terrible as multiple reviewers have described.

The progression system has been changed to remove all player choice, you're now forced to unlock things in a strictly linear path. Along with that they removed all the cool ranks, now it has a generic system of level from tier 1 to tier 11.
All progression has been reset even if you use the some xbox live account that you used on the xbox 360. The flaming helmet effect I bought with the legendary edition has been taken away. The new progression system adds a redundant new currency that will likely be used for microtransactions in the future.
Forge and theater modes are not available yet, meaning only half the game is playable right now.
Multiplayer map voting was removed. Because of this, almost every map you get in multiplayer is awful 343 made maps, not solid, well crafted Bungie maps. The playlists are all ruined because of this one small decision.

tl;dr, Bungie made a great game, and the changes that 343i made are very bad.
