Is it yourself or you and your self?





The internet as stands now is an mind boggling paradoxical plague of the human condition. What was once a dream of expanding peoples minds and bringing people together has instead divided them and buried peoples minds instead of freeing them. What some may remember being told when the internet was in its infancy is merely a pipe dream. Internet use is almost without exception conducted through a medium of filters, to which end do they serve? Engagement of course, because that's what sells. The most effective method to encourage engagement is to appeal to ones character and the only guide post being what they engage with and of course the human condition will always like it's prejudice and inherent bias. The process of shaping ones surroundings to merely appeal to ones character is by far the single most effective and destructive instrument of reality warping propaganda ever invented. This reprehensible sham having free reign to embed itself in the internet is quite possibly one of the most damaging and regressive blunders to ever be allowed to take place. The worst propaganda is what people want to hear, which on the internet is the same as what sells, go figure.

The internet can enhance freedom of speech through anonymity and encryption yet can never truly be said to exhibit this trait if no one uses it. Freedom of speech is fundamental to a free and open society capable of a democracy, yet is commonly forsaken on the internet. Instead the norm is everyone sittings in their own cesspools, validating whatever view point floats to the surface. One can see how the new medium adopts the perils of the old times, the whole 'propaganda before wisdom' situation.
