UPDATE: Last day will be Sunday 31/03/2019

Some of you will already know, since it was posted in the Discord server last night, of the upcoming closure of the Smurfy TF2 servers. I will update with the exact date of closure once it has been finalised.

It should probably be no secret that I have not had much time to spend for quite a while now, and that does not appear to be changing any time soon. Couple that with the dwindling numbers of the server, many nights remaining completely empty, I believe that it is time for the TF2 server to say goodbye.

I don't say that without some sadness. The Smurfy community has been absolutely wonderful. Most of my time playing TF2 has been on Smurfy, solely because of the amazing people there.

You have all left me with some great memories such as:

  • CrazyMummy telling me that it was time for me to go to bed every night
  • Watching theatreTECHIE bring pl_virgil (I refuse to use it's 'official' name) from the initial unrendered map to the well polished one it is now
  • My personal vendetta against all Engineers
  • Badbreath's damn rollers finishing me off time and time again
  • Dazed popping the Kritzkrieg and telling me to "go big!" (I have a Direct Hit, probably the only Soldier weapon worse suited to the Kritz is the Cowmangler)
  • GoldSpee having an apoplectic fit in Discord each time he walked around the corner into a Direct Hit rocket.

After a very long time, TF2 has finally received a new update; Scream Fortress X. You can read all about the changes on the TF2 blog page.

So what are we doing?
Here at Smurfy, we have changed the PVP 2 server to be just the halloween* maps

It was definitely a fun weekend to play on smurfy again one last time, but I must admit I don't have as much free time as I used to. I would definitely be down for a once a month gathering though. If it happens, post an event and count me in. Best TF2 community 2012-2019.
