About the Goonies

The Goonies [Goon] was created on April 30th 2005, by Lord Xalo. He created the guild two days after the launch of Guild Wars itself. I took over leadership around mid 2007 and shared it from that point to the present. I'm fairly big on tradition and I think its a large part of maintaining a successful guild. That's why I'm eager to make a founder's spot for our GW2 launch. You're becoming a part of one of the oldest active guilds in the Guild Wars universe. That in itself is something to boast about. On top of that tradition, you've got the knowledge, that you're going to be lead by people who want to see everyone have the most fun in this game as possible. Our dedication to you and your gaming experince, I hope will be unparalleled, by any other community you've been a part of in your MMO experince. As a PvE guild we look forward to offering you these things and more as they become availible as the game progresses:

Influence Boons - In GW2, guilds gain influence points based on events completed by members. Those points can be spent to build everything from Guild vaults, Guild emblems (that can be attached to your armor and weapons), to special boons to increase your gameplay experience. Some of the boons I know of off the top of my head are, experience boons and karma boons. Experience boons increase your rate of experience gain by x%, allowing you to level faster and get that nice peice of armor you've been eyeballing. Karma boons, increase your karma gain by x%. Karma is gained by helping the many people of Tyria with their random issues. It can then be used to by rare items, including weapons and armor. These will be among the first things we plan on reasearching to make your game play go smoother.

Orgainized events - From dungeons to fighting bosses, to slaying centaurs, GW2 offers a ton of events to try out. We plan on having Officers planning dungeon runs and other events. No random searching for parties, find your buddies in guild and go out and have fun, utilize the voice server, go crazy!

Free and discounted items from crafters - as I mentioned in other posts, we plan to have a crafting/gathering class. The purpose of these guys will be to make armor and weapons for you to but at a discounted price, sometimes just the cost of the materials. It can take a while for a game's economy to level out, so these guys will be invaluable at the beginning and throughout your journey. Show them some, love and they'll share it right back at you.

Help - If this part wasn't evident in the first three points, let me say it. Our goal is to help each other, from the level 80 all the way down to the new level 1, the guild is here to lend a hand. In return, we only ask that you do the same, if someone helped you, pay it forward. Make this game fun for everyone and we'll have tons more fun that those other guys.
