It has been a while since our last official tactical sunday on the SO Realism server.

In the meantime alot has happened but mostly my sunday evenings were filled with studying for my partime school. But ive missed our gaming sessions where tactical teamplay was pivotal!

By now im at a stage were i have room for other things besides school and i wanted to get back into tactical teamwork. As of lately ive been having fun with a few SO regulars playing Ground Branch and im getting back at hosting gaming sessions on sunday evenings.

That means Tactical Sunday is back!

If you have Ground Branch, please join us on the SO Special Operations Server. If you dont own Ground Branch i encourage you to get a copy!

Hey guys! I wanted to inform you all about a change of direction for tactical sunday. After many thoughts i have decided to cancel the insurgency server (5 aug 2017 ends), quite frankly im hitting the limits of the game for quite some time and im getting pretty bored with it, the pleasure is not outweighing the costs (time & money) to keep this up. Im done with insurgency but not done with tactical sunday, actually i would like to boost that and re-ignite with re-newed energy to put more effort in our teamplay. Ive overlooked many options and came to the conclusion that Squad and Project Reality (both are pretty similar gameplay wise) by far come closest to the SO gameplay where teamwork and comms are key. With these games we now have the oppurtunity to play together as a team or squad with and against others, therefore we are doing this without our own server, at least at first. We gather on teamspeak and once we have a decent sized team we go ingame and find a suitable server - i believe you can join in progress but teams are limited in size.

As of now Tactical Sunday will be based upon Squad and/or Project Reality, which one will be our primary focus is something we will figure along the way.

Im exited to move into new territory - i hope you join me/us and continue to enjoy our tactical teamwork!

Hey al,

Next sunday our weekly event Tactical sunday is "on hold" because i want to look into and try out the standalone / mod for battlefield 2 which is widely known as PR:BF2 or Project Reality with a small group of people to determine if this is something we can alternate with Insurgency on a weekly basis.

Feel free to play insurgency none the less.

I will report back here how PR works out and how and if we can expand to play it with more people at the same time in the future.

Great news guys! I'm pretty stoked to tell you all that i have been able to further improve the new game mode S&D and incorporate some of these ideas into it!

The new version of S&D features a demolitions expert (VIP) which needs to be escorted to the insurgent weapon cache to blow it up, only the demolitions expert (VIP) is equipped to do so (C4).

Security wins when they have destroyed the weapon cache within the time limit or by eliminating the opposing team.
The other players within the security team are tasked to protect the demolitions expert (VIP) and clear and secure the objective so that the demolitions expert (VIP) can do his job.

Insurgents or the defending team need to protect the weapon cache until the timer runs out OR eliminate the demolitions expert (VIP).

There is one possible minor issue and that is the indication of the objective and spawn locations. I'm not sure if the ambush mode which we now use is able to show multiple objective markers. In my tests with bots the game alternately shows one of the objective markers and hides the other two... but that is with bots. i havent been able to test my settings with more then one human player, hopefully it works like intended :)
