ACERCA DE Huwhyte HoE+ and CD

Announcements and discussions regarding Huwhyte KF2 HoE+ and CD servers

There's a game here on Steam called "Killing Floor 2". It's a coop 6 player zombie apocalypse type of game without much lore, but with lots of non-stop no-BS zombie shooting. Players play over the internet on servers, some of which are community servers, hosted by players. This group is used to post announcement about the "Huwhyte" community servers. The "Old School HoE+" servers are modded in order to significantly ramp up the difficulty. The servers are absolutely elitist and cater to veterans of the game and provide more of an old school gameplay, the way the game was roughly before summer 2017, but harder.

I’ve felt sorry for newer players in this game, because they get kicked out from HoE+ for bottomfragging and retarded play all the time, so Ive designed an “Oldschool HoE” game mode for them. The “Oldschool HoE” game mode is roughly equal to the vanilla HoE in difficulty, but adjusted to be less frustrating to play. These servers are noob friendly and typically elitists won't kick you from there for bottomfragging or any rules violations.

For those who are looking to step up to Controlled Difficulty game modes, “Open CD” servers are also available with the most popular CD builds. The servers are located physically in North America, specifically, in New York City and Northern Virginia.

There's a whole reading floor in the announcements and discussions sections about this game if you are into it.

"Take your issues up with the authorities"
this would not be something the volunteer moderators nor Tripwire would be responsible for. Alt and bot detection on official Discords is hardly unique to the Killing Floor Discord, and if someone takes issue with their country blocking Discord, that is something they should take up with their government.

Oh, the irony! LMAO!!!

Well, guess what, this "take it up with the authorities" approach or principle to follow when resolving disputes is something that TWI explicitly DENY themselves. Let me quote from their discord or Steam discussions rules:

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3469727301

Forum moderators may or may not be Tripwire Interactive staff members, but either way, please respect them, as they are the authority of the forums. Speaking to them with intentional spite will not be tolerated and may result in the loss of your forum privileges.
Any decisions made by any member of staff or moderator are final and not subject to discussion. Doing so may result in a ban from the site.
The owners of Tripwire Interactive Forums reserve the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason, as well as to remove access to the forums for any individuals with or without warning for breaches of the rules.

https://steamproxy.net/app/232090/discussions/0/368542585860456418/

Basically:

* they can delete any content and ban anyone for anything;
* any moderators decisions are final, regardless of how just they are, all complaints are futile;
* discussing their moderation practices publicly is a ban.

It's not just declarations, they actively follow these rules and ban their customers left and right and been doing it for years.

Note the word "authority" in that Molly's warning on discord. Basically, on platforms under TWI's control, they are authority there, or, in other words government. They govern the people and content they create on these platforms. Any decisions they make are final and cannot be appealed. The amount of reversed decisions known to the public is exactly zero. Basically, it's an authoritarian government, a draconian tyranny.

Then, imagine that, a member of this tyranny, a hired goon, an unpaid jannie, decides to argue with the governed people on this tyrannical authority's behalf on how exactly they are governed.

And the goon suggests that the governed should take it up with the authority if they don't like how they are governed. Meanwhile, the authority xe represents here explicitly denies the governmed such rights. Is this smug ♥♥♥♥♥♥ not self aware? Is he just mocking us as powerless serfs? You decide.

While this irony was lost on the goon, it wasn't lost, predictably, on IceBeam. IceBeam brought up his own ban as a case showing the futility of taking it up with the authority. What would be your guess, did this goon even understand why IceBeam brings up his ban?

What are all the ways this unpaid's jannie message can be interpreted? Why would he even suggest to complain to a tyrannical authority, being a part of such an authority ximself?

* Xe lacks any self awareness and xis message is necessarily self contradictory.
* Xe knows perfectly that any appeals are futile, regardless if one complains to TWI mods/community managers or Putin, so xe just mocks us as powerless serfs who are abused and can't do anything about it.
* Combination of both.

I can't think of anything else. What else could have xe meant by this?

So this is another case of bad PR, in a long series, where a representative of TWI authority publicly denigrates their customers for no good reason whatsoever.

This is why you typically don't see Molly or Yoshiro, primary TWI community alienators, ever explaining their actions. This particular goon is just new and haven't learnt the lesson yet that he plays on the side of dimwits, impostors and frauds, so he better not engage in any discusssions, lest their misdeeds are uncovered in the process.

This is why they prohibit even read only access for unverified accounts to their discord, so we can't take screencaps and mock their retardation and inconsistencies in the ways they conduct business and relate to their customers.

Now, let's talk about how this goon ended up being an unpaid jannie in the first place. Who is he? What did he do in KF scene to become one?

He's a literal nobody. Nobody knows him. Zero known cases of him helping anyone in KF community. Zero known contributions to the scene.

Yet, it's someone TWI would promote to become a jannie.

Let's compare with someone whose schedule over the last 6+ years I know intimately well and it's yours truly humble servant Carl himself.

1. You can read my messages on steam and find numerous instances when I was helping TWI's customers with their numerous issues as this game is full of them. That, before I was banned there of course.

2. You can read my messages on reddit and find numerous instances when I was helping TWI's customers with their numerous issues as this game is full of them. That, before I was banned there of course.

3. You can read my messages on TWI official forums and find numerous instances when I was helping TWI's customers with their numerous issues as this game is full of them. That, before I was banned there of course.

There, I had messages to upvotes ratio of 2/1, which I bet is in top 1%, because naturally everybody who I helped with some technical issues was motivated to upvote. Last time I checked that was even higher than that of some of the authorities, who are typically upvoted just because they are authorities.

4. Even outside of the bans, I helped dozens of server hosters with the DDoS defenses, something TWI has been neglecting for years, in DMs and oftentimes in screen sharing technical sessions on Discord.

5. On top of that I host MOTD pictures on my own web server which allows plain HTTP and doesn't attempt to upgrade it to HTTPS automatically, which is required for KF2 game's client to render them, for about of a dozen of other server hosters. TWI could have hosted such a server themselves in order to encourage server hosters to contribute to the scene with their server ops effort, but they aren't even aware that this problem exists.

Unlike some of the elitists I am genuinely compassionate towards noobs and more casual players and even designed a game mode for them with all the mods that I run on HoE+, but with reduced to more casual and chill difficulty.

My DMs are full of various "thank you" notes from various community members who I helped with this or that problem, which is something TWI community managers should have been doing themselves. They don't.

Did TWI ever approach me to make me a jannie? Of course not. It doesn't matter if one is helpful, put a lot of work and contributed a lot to the game's community. What matters is if one calls some slacker who is also an official TWI employee a ♥♥♥ or a ♥♥♥♥♥♥, when they make our lives worse for umpteenth time in a row.

See, in the eyes of these ♥♥♥♥ one derogatory word outweighs a lot of real effort and actions helpful for the community. This is because they aren't capable and don't exert any effort themselves, so they have poor understanding of the value of such efforts.

In the end, slur usage doesn't matter either. A careful reader is well aware that they eventually banned IceBeam as well, who is very polite and very careful with avoiding any offensive words. Why is he not made a moderator?

Tripwire employees who make calls and their bootlickers have no idea how much effort does it take to analyze the game balance. They are oblivious how much effort does it take to produce 20K lines of useful code for the mods. They aren't helpful themselves and their own official forums have even sometimes basic technical questions left behind unanswered for years. So they easily dismiss when others exert such efforts. One "♥♥♥" word outweighs all that, even if it was warranted to use it.

This is also one of the reasons why they so easily kicked out John Gibson, despite him being the most knowledgeable developer who put the most of thought and code into both KF1 and KF2. They aren't capable themselves and aren't in position to even assess the amount of labor did it take to produce all that. They are all mediocrities at best.

Of course, in general, from the business standpoint it's in TWI's best interest to hire the most helpful and capable. But they hire only those, who get along with their authoritarian methods of management, which, I bet, are absolutely the same internally. This inevitably results in poor company performance and ultimately, if unchecked, in bankruptcy.

This is where we've been steadily heading for years.

"Often vacant for years" or how TWI fails to hire the gamedev talent
Funding. It's all about funding, unfortunately. The map was originally developed with the idea of eventually including it into Killing Floor 2. That was my intent, anyway. But it isn't a decision i can make by myself. It's all up to Tripwire, not us creators. They didn't want it. The "last chapter" segment refers to the fact that i simply cannot keep creating quality content such as this without being paid for it. "Quarantine Breach" took 6-7 months from start to completion, "Spillway" took some 8-9 months total. So you see the dilemma. Projects like these require planning, testing, and a lot of trial and error in some aspects of them, like difficulty balancing. Not to mention they are absolute time vampires. Sure, i could make some amateurish 2-week maps, but what's the point? Making cherry product was the whole point. We're supposed to go up in standards, not down.

Taken from here:

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1921105764

As you can see, Rewire puts the quality bar quite high for himself and basically was priced out by TWI who preferred lower quality product so their collaboration went sour.

Instead of wasting their profits on Lamborghinis and collectible DeLoreans, TWI should have hired Rewire.

2. Blackout (region unknown, probably USA).

Blackout was arguably the #1 modder, the author of the original CD, or "Controlled Difficulty" mod. This mod is absolutely awesome, it added easily thousands of hours into this game for me and inspired me to work on my own mods which I run on my "Huwhyte oldschool" servers, a lot of functionality of which is inspired by CD.

Not only the awesomeness of the mod, Blackout was one of the early players who recognized the limitations and issues of the vanilla game flow and worked on rebalancing it and addressing the most glaring game issues, such as spawn rage on fleshpounds, janky and too chaotic vanilla spawn cycle, etc. This guy had good ideas on the game balance.

Completely ignored by TWI.

Instead, they should have hired him to work on game balance and made CD an official game mode.

3. Mathieu Wuebec (probably French Canadian?)

Mathieu was the author of the original "Zedternal" project. You can consider it an Endless mode the game should have had in the first place, with RPG elements and skill builds.

I wouldn't subscribe to Mahieu's ideas about the game balance and would prefer if he balanced Zedternal with precision shooting in mind, but he didn't. Still, the effort was amazing and resulted in an amazing mod, currently maintained by Fleet Killer and Cruz Controlled.

With proper rebalancing Zedternal could have become a hit, or, at least, provide hundreds of additional hours per player of game content.

TWI should have hired them all and made Zedternal official game mode.

Instead, they chose to completely ignore it and Mathieu ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off to the sunset.

4. Delta Ranger (probably an aussie?).

Delta Ranger was a map maker, most known for the map "Desolation". When TWI officialized it, they have bastardized it to the point at which the frustrated map author to took it to YT after eventually all attempts to talk sense into TWI have failed:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqxn6at0yxY

TWI should have hired him and fired everyone from the internal team who worked on bastardizing this map.

TWI didn't.

5. Hunter (former Soviet Union?).

Hunter was a prolific modder from the former Soviet Union space who contributed a lot of mods into this game and maintained CD as "CD Eternal" in 2018-2020. He's easily in top 3 mostly knowledgeable people about this game.

TWI completely ignored him. They removed some of his mods from the workshop.

Instead, they should have hired him to work on things like game improvements, balance, reworked upgrade system and so on.

6. Fanta (phanta, phantasm, rat, cat, etc, probably from Poland?).

Fanta is the maintainer of the most current and feature rich mod "CD Chokepoints Edition". Easily in top 3 most knowledgeable people about this game AND, which is extremely rare, someone who has good ideas on the proper game balance through playing the hell out of it and understanding its balance to a little detail.

His mod was ripped off by ♥♥♥♥ (along with no less than 5 other mods, including Blackout's CD) and TWI found nothing better, but to sweep the mods theft situation under the rug. They keep banning people and censoring content hinting at it up to this date on "witch hunting is bad" grounds.

TWI completely ignored him and banned him from their official forums. His last message there was merely asking if TWI pays their QA testers, so it was probably the last straw that irritated TWI over the threshold.

You see, it's okay for them to spend "a lot of profit" on themselves and their whims. The idea of paying QA folks instead of exploiting them for free is unacceptable to the point when even bringing it up is a bannable offense.

They should have hired him as a game developer.

7. GenZmey (probably from Russia?).

A prolific modder and server hoster behind the MSK-GS game servers (retired). His contributions are numerous and invaluable, various mods such as vote collector, yet another hud, zed spawner and very importantly, "Safe Mutator Loader", the mutator that allows to bypass the whitelisting system TWI no longer supports and load not whitelisted mutators.

You can check some of his mods in the Steam workshop:

https://steamproxy.net/id/GenZmeY/myworkshopfiles/

Also contributed into the research and defense against the DDoS, which was making online games lagging for >2 years and caused at least 500 community server hosters to abandon this game. Who knows how many players it has caused to abandon it due to unbearable online lags. This was the DDoS research and defense TWI themselves have neglected and never found worthy of even a simple announcement.

Only when we, as a community, have defeated the DDoSers, likely by reducing the global average amplification factor, TWI released their own half ass built-in official DDoS protection which they framed as obscure "security" update, LMAO.

A meme contributed by GenZmey:

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3338741298

TWI should have hired him as a game developer.

Instead, they completely ignored him and when he tried uploading SML to the workshop, they kept removing it from there.

An explicit negation of 8.

Tamari. And his crony Forrest Mark X. TWI should have unambiguously condemned the mods theft, required their absolute mod transparency and ensured there's no stolen code in anything they upload to the KF2 steam workshop.

It's okay in my book to reprimand them also by a temp ban as a punishment for their wrongdoings.

TWI also should have investigated the cyberattacks likely perpetrated by them and probably, depending if warranted upon internal investigation, reported them to authorities.

Instead, TWI promoted them on their official platforms and preposterously allows their mods in the steam workshop, despite them bypassing the game whitelisting mechanism, something TWI themselves stated explicitly they are against of as it pertains to CD.

Yes, they are against it when someone else does it, such as GenZmey, but in this case it's somehow allowed for whitelist bypassing mods to exist in the workshop and only in their case. Everybody else can't do it.

https://steamproxy.net/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3094190291

All this bovinae excrement happened partially under John Gibson's watch.

This is why I put about about zero truth score on this claim: "no qualifying applicants". If we had just these 7 working even remotely even part time on KF2 instead of their whole 100+ employees company, we likely would have a much better game. Some of them would have gladly accepted relocation for good pay, I assume, to work "on site" in Roswell, GA, US of A.

But now it's too late. They ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up everything. Including betraying and kicking out their own CEO and President John Gibson, who, despite his flaws, was a capable game designer. Those 100+ who are now with the company are mostly not, which now should be clear for everyone.

In conclusion I'd like to bring up this quote from Rewire:

Anything worth doing, is worth doing well.

That's, basically, a perfectionist manifesto. Many from the list above are such people who don't tolerate low quality work. What brought them together? Why did they even care to contribute any content to KF2? Because at its core KF2 was a high quality game, at least high enough for such perfectionist as Rewire to spend countless hours playing it and contributing to it.

The key word here "was". Not anymore. TWI ruined it themselves and have nothing else to blame but their own retardation. ♥♥♥♥ them.

Beware everyone, there is a gaypist by the name Korbin Kyle and he's deleting his comments to cover his tracks, his steam name is Dreadnought which he will likely change, he's trying to turn more innocent people into gaypists, stay away from this delusional man and stay safe.

Yo Poor huwhyte Carl, I was playing today on your severs and had full zed time and was aiming on a straight on Flesh pounds head , unloaded 30 rounds of all my guns with the gunslinger and only hit 1 head shot. I practice a lot offline and know that i would have hit more then that, I use a cross hair overlay and was perfectly lined up. Others on your server where saying the same thing about the hit detection seemed way off! Please reset servers ? Or fix this some how. Thanks. I had 40 ping fyi

Appreciate the server. No B.S. HUD. No annoying EDARS. This HOE+ server is the main reason I still play this amazing game anymore. It's perfectly modded and challenging. Keep up the great work for the community!
