I like the art style a lot and the dialogue is fun. Written with some dry humour and it also captures how you might think with no education. There are the obvious comparisons to the "Fallout" series that have been made so I will discuss the other things I like in "Death Trash."
The combat is much more fast paced, eschewing the turn based ethic of the other series. Death Trash features an acceptable shooting system but the real fun is in the melee battle, and the dodge roll timings will be pleasant and natural feeling to those of us who are "Dark Souls" lovers.
While not demanding quite as much "frame perfect" timing as the DS games are infamous for, Death Trash rewards the observant player. Different enemies attack at different speeds and in different ways.
In particular, I am enjoying the lightning infused mutants; the way they telegraph their dash attack gives you time to react but roll quickly, because they hit HARD. This game will punish your mistakes and healing items are somewhat limited but I haven't gotten soft locked due to no healing. (item distribution is fair, you don't want to be wasting things but you can usually eat a meat or organ after getting wounded. Just don't use your meats to be topping up your health bar unless in a truly bad situation.)

The quest writing is passable but by the time I have reached level 5, I have not encountered any quests that were written in a highly compelling way. Sure, i'll go get the core to use the computer to learn some lore and pass the quest, but I'm not telling myself a mental story the way I have in other RPG games. I am hoping the quest writing will improve once I get deeper into the game but the ones I've completed so far have done an acceptable job at slowly feeding me bits of backstory and lore as i progress.
I guess I am missing computer terminals and notes to give me bigger chunks of world-building in large doses, but I am following the story pretty well and slowly figuring out what's going on in this twisted, dark and MEATY world.

As with any EA game, play the demo and see if it's for you. Personally, I finished the demo and bought the EA version a few days later after reflecting on my demo experience for a time. Definitely something to check out if you like Fallout or Dark Souls, but those feel like limited comparisons to make. There is something more to Death Trash than just mimicing these other games, and that something is very promising.

This game is a work of art, thoroughly glad I bought it.

This game rocks, Fun unique character builds, great pixel art, and fast-paced unforgiving gameplay. It's like hyper light drifter but with light-RPG elements and a unique biopunk/cyberpunk aesthetic. I'm all about it.
