ASE BETTER THAN ASA!

Before I played Ark SE i had a small wee wee, no friends, no girlfriend, depression and absolutely no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is still pretty good and way better then Ark Ascended.

I am a gamer that transferred from PS4 and PS5 to PC. I have re-bought some of the games I had on those systems such as Skyrim, Elden Ring, Ark Survival Evolved. This is one of those games I am starting to dislike greatly. Granted, this game was amazing around the time of pre-release. There was really nothing as in depth as Ark during that time and it actually had pretty good "Bare-Bones(starting)" mechanics in the start. However, here we are now with practically the same systems in implication, and all of them are still flawed in some way. Lets start with taming. Taming anything in this game takes unrealistically too long for a average person with a job and a life. Sitting in front of a Dino for three hours shoving meat and drugs up its AS is not fun and gets annoying quick. There is a setting to adjust this but decreasing it makes some taming a walk in a park with no challenge. Another thing is the AI of the game. Dinos (or any creature for that matter) have absolutely no brain cells and just take the most straight line towards you. If you jump over a cavern out of reach, they will just run into the cavern after you. This creates problems with both tamed and non-tamed dinos. Your tamed dinos will just jump off cliffs and into lava or water half the time. Many times dinos will just walk into a wall and just do that for a solid minute. On the subject of dinos, the stat system for them is very lazily designed. There is practically no stat cap, allowing dinos to be bred to stupid stats such as 3 million health for a raptor. This wouldn't be much of a problem if this game was solely PVE. PVP does exist, however, and this lack of mechanic makes it impossible to do anything on dedicated servers. Another weird mechanic is the underwater system. I don't think most people mess with oceans, including me, and that is probably because of two main things. Jellyfish and eels come to mind. As soon as they even get close, you are stun locked permanently underwater until you drown. And why are they freaking everywhere as well? All it would take to balance the electric shock would make the status effect last for 3-5 seconds, then add a moment of invincibility towards that status effect for about the same time. Now you could finally explore the oceans in peace and still have the mechanic. I could go on forever with the problems this game has. The lack of stuff to do in PVE also is annoying. This is because there is no invasion type mechanic in the game and there is really nothing to work for besides tame new dino and build better base. The only challenge this game offers is the endgame bosses that you teleport to, but they are unbalanced as well. I haven't even started about the amount of bugs they won't fix in this game either. There is a reason some checklist reviews have Ark Survival Evolved as 2nd worse when reviewing how many bugs a game has. The final thing is the fact that they literately made a remake of this game and just re-shaded the textures. (Looking at you Ascended) Why was this just not a DLC or texture pack for the game? Now you have to mange two different games when you can't even handle this one.


So here is a small paragraph summing up this nightmare of a game. Lack of balancing for honestly everything, NPC AI sucks, extremely lazy design, almost no amount of PVE, oceans are a mess and not fun, so many bugs that you might as well call it bug simulator now, and servers are a joke. I believe the only reason this game has a good review is because of the amount of mods saving it, popular streamers on the internet, and the lack of better options. As soon as a competent game comes out that is survival based and dinosaur based, I think many players will switch games.

A really good game with a bunch of friends if you are into survival games!
We played the game on dedicated servers. you can tweak every single parameter to make the game as fast as you want and its just fun!
