Proton: Demo won't launch

Demo doesn't start when run with Proton. There's a message window that pops up far too briefly to see, and then the game keeps running but no window ever appears for the game. I'm willing to help troubleshoot.

I really like the idea, and what I did see was interesting!
But I said "did" deliberately
It was, a little bit confusing on how to get the different endings, felt like there was only a few important choices to make
But, but! I'm also the type of person whose eyes just glaze over at lots and lots of text!
So, I know with certainty, that someone other than me can find them for sure!

Flickering Screen

You need to add an option to remove the screen flicker. That's a major epilepsy hazard. I couldn't look at the screen for more than a minute before I had to Alt+F4.
