Quality of life update - Changelog 2025-03-20

Dear players,

We've released a big quality-of-life update of Dawnmaker at the end of last week, and a minor update with bug fixes today. Here are the major changes these updates bring:

Added an option, when picking a character, to enable infinite retries. This option allows you to replay regions you lost as many times as you like, and prevents losing a run.
Reworked a bunch of interfaces (as part of our work on the mobile version). For example, the Character selection screen has been completely revamped, and buildings in the market are now in a separate column and with miniatures instead of the full card.
Enabled the Steam Overlay.
And a bunch of small bug fixes!

As usual, we thank you for playing Dawnmaker! We hope we'll keep receiving your feedback, either on the Steam forums, on our Discord server[discord.gg], or via the F8 key in the game.

Gameplay

[bug] Made sure the Recycling house will not stop triggering when activating adjacent buildings.
Made the first draft after each Aerostation level up offer Eclairium-producing buildings.
Added an option, when picking a character, to enable infinite retries. This option allows you to replay regions you lost as many times as you like, and prevents losing a run.
[bug] Prevented unlocking the third character when finishing the tutorial.
[bug] Prevented having the same wonder as a reward for multiple regions.

Quality of life

Moved the market into a separate column to the right of the screen.
Changed how buildings look in the market, to show them with a bigger illustration and name but no rules or types.
Reworked the Character selection screen to make it prettier and better organized.
[bug] Fixed the wrong font being used for character names in the Character selection screen.
Reworked the Settings screen and made it accessible via a button from everywhere in the game.
Made your hand be highlighted when targeting a card.
Added a counter in the tooltip of buildings that care about the number of cards played during a turn.
Added a setting to change the font size.
Enabled the Steam Overlay.
[bug] Hiding a modal only hides the latest opened one instead of all the modals.
Added buttons to buy buildings and cards in the Airship.
Moved the "No building" button when drafting a building to the bottom bar.
[bug] Prevented activating the main action when pressing Enter while a modal is open.

Content

Updated the rules of the Automated field building to make it clearer that it always adds 1 🌱 even if there are no adjacent fields.

Whats going on with the framerate?

The game completely stutters because it goes from 98 to 40 to 60 to 20 fps and more, up and down constantly. In the main menu. Playing is fine and runs at 80 -130 fps (although i have nvidia settings limited to 72fps). It just randomly jumps around with the framerate and theres no way to apply settings to apply an ingame limit. I have a framerate limit applied through Nvidia settings and it still jumps way above that setting for no apparent reason. Its only in main menu after having to click a button and...

[SOLVED] New update removes the Executable?

Hey, so I was surprised to see an update to this game - I was under the impression it was pretty much complete and no longer actively supported. I downloaded the update, and Steam now tells me there's an error because there's no executable in the files. I verified the integrity of the game to make sure, and that didn't help. So umm... what's up with that? Devs? Publishers?...

what does the fist symbol do/mean?

Just downloaded the demo, looks like an interesting game! The tutorial seemed pretty good, but I don't understand what the "+1 fist" symbol does or means? Cards like Nightshift gives you them in exchange for Luminoil. But I don't see anything visibly happen when I get one?...

Restart map/Restart turn

Hello, First off, this game almost perfect. So many things are wonderful. There is just one major feature that makes me stop playing the game. My most recent game I was on map 7 or 8, two hours into a run, and I hit town hall upgrade. I had miscalculated and was 12/-14 and lost the next turn. I went back to the mid map screen and just felt like crap because I wanted a perfect run and lost it on a silly mistake. And then I looked at my 7 to 8 completed maps and said "I don't want to shamefully play those...

This is the perfect little, I'll just play a little bit game and suddenly you've lost two hours.

Perfect for steamdeck, turn based so if the kids require attention you can put it down. Real combos happen and the last QoL updates are a bliss.

Go play the demo, if you like the first fifteen minutes, you'll love it.
