If anyone is reading this, know this. This game's idea is brilliant and I love it for that, BUT once you play it for a good 4 to 5 hours, it begins to feel like Snowrunner's tedious missions with weak trucks and the powerful ones locked away by missions either too difficult, or too complicated to get around.

In fairness, the game is still new and has pretty ingenuous features. For instance, I like the idea of the scout roof racks being customizable. Deciding how much fuel or repair is a very nice feature to have. The Placeable Anchors to help in tough spots are very handy, but the best feature is the Auto Jack. The best item to have to flip any and every vehicle at least twice in a run. That is something that honestly needs to be in Snowrunner.

There is, however, parts that are lacking which are quite apparent when you run into them. The first being the missions. These are by no means bad, but when it starts to become a nuisance, it gets really annoying. The seismic reader from Snowrunner returns and is just as annoying here as in Snowrunner. Difference is, you're stuck with a truck with poor power and doesn't get any better till very late in the game. There are a few other big annoyances but the biggest of them all, the access to the mods.

Mods don't sound bad at all, but my biggest issue is this: When I can get a mod that makes every mission in this game easy mode, why should I use the vanilla trucks? There are a bunch of good trucks that keep to the games challenge but, when you've just had your fill and want the mission over with, you'll end up grabbing the baddest mod you have and using it for all the maps. I hate having to do this but, when I have no other choice, I don't see a reason to give a game a thumbs up, when I have to get around poor design through mods.

This is where I have to end it in saying, "Sounds great on paper, but difficult in practice."

I can't really say if the game is any good. Due to my disabilities I can't play with the standard control scheme they included on release. I have contacted support about it their accessibility team did say they look into it. I have refunded the game and followed the development further to see if there would be any improvements to it. They did introduce a different control scheme, but it did nothing to help me. The control scheme that was there in Mudrunner and I think it was B in Snowrunner worked well for me with adjustments to my controller that I made to be able to play most games. I will not buy the game again until this is resolved and I believe than in 2024 we should just have complete customization options for our controls. It will make the game so much more accessible to people with disabilities.
