Solo Play Very Fun

Remember Me is a third-person action-adventure game featuring Nilin, a Memory Hunter, set in a dystopian far future Neo-Paris. Nilin suffers from amnesia, but contrary to the cliche protagonist amnesia story used as a common trope, in Remember Me, it's a part of the overall plot.
In this far future Neo-Paris a company has developed a technology that lets people broker, share, lose or gain memories. Though all is not well, as Nilin discovers as she slowly regains her lost memories.

Remember Me has something special going for it. It still holds up in presentation, both from a technical visual aspect, as it still looks great, as the graphical settings took in to account future possible settings, allowing a crisp visual fidelity.
But also in the design of the cityscape you traverse, the music and the atmosphere all lend themselves to a visual impressive title, even 10 years later after its release. Given that it's using an older Unreal Engine version, it has the dreaded Traversal Stutter every time you move to a new segment of the various Episodes.

While the level design is fairly linear and you find yourself wrestling with the camera at times, because it's stuck to the back of Nilins head, in part because the various segments are very narrow in the actual area you can move around in. Though this narrowness also has a drawback, because it's quick to cut you off from prior hallways and areas, removing the possibility to collect missed collectibles and collectibles this game has in abundance, though they are largely irrelevant if you miss half of them.

Remember Me continues the "Batman combat", first introduced by Batman: Arkham Asylum, years earlier. But with the added mechanics of combining various effects into button press combos, such as regaining life, or reducing the cooldown on her abilities.

The combat and the enemy design are fairly similar to what Batman: Arkham Asylum presented, it feels a bit worse in Remember Me, and the various encounters all boils down to waiting out for her cooldowns, or using combos specifically to bring the cooldown, though that's not always possible. This makes the encounter design and the combo combat a bit repetitive.

The game also features a Remixing mechanic, at various parts throughout the game you're supposed to remix peoples memories, in order to get them to side with you, or forget traumatic pasts, though while the mechanic is neat, it doesn't elevate it self above it's simple presentation, and doesn't allow for "remixing" of the gameplay so sadly the memory remixing only have one outcome and doesn't really tie in to the gameplay itself, only in to the overarching story and to drive that forward.

Regardless, Remember Me deserves a sequel. But disappointingly enough 10 years later Don't Nod haven't made one yet.
