Hey everyone,

Thank you for answering the call and fulfilling your duty once more as the Striver, by ridding the land of Ire of the evil Gahars. We’re so happy to see all the positivity around the game, and have been working hard to fix commonly raised bugs and issues that our brave Strivers have encountered.

We’re happy to push our first patch for the full game, fixing a range of issues with New Game +, collision issues and other bugs. Read the full patch notes below:

• Fixed some collision issues in Dunghaven.
  
• Fixed some collision issues in Cinder Valley.
  
• Fixed some collision issues in Irelia.
  
• Adjusted some of the collisions in the final Dunghaven encounter.
  
• Changed some enemy pathing in Rimehold.
  
• Adjusted the aggression of some enemies in Rimehold.
  
• Adjusted the Skull Demon placement in Irelia.
  
• Reduced the HP of the Snail Queen enemy.
  
• Fixed the crash that would occur when viewing the 'Spectre' entry in the Morbid Menagerie.
  
• Cleaned up the cinematic meshes left behind after killing Acolytes that could be seen when revisiting levels.
  
• Fixed the Strivers hair model when playing on 'Low' graphics settings.
  
• Bol should now be more inclined to talk to the player in Dunghaven.
  
• Minor tweaks to the Lava Giant and Carcass King enemies.
  
• Fixed NG+ Not saving correctly.
  
• Fixed the Hag not showing up in NG+ if the player already has relics from the previous Cycle.
  
• Fixed the Mastodon enemies collision issue when using the 1st Raging bull attack.
  
• Fixed the Player sometimes being able to move whilst in the meditation animation.
  
• Fixed Steam Cloud Saves not downloading correctly.

These changes, specific to the Rimehold area, will also be reflected in the game’s Demo.

In addition to these fixes, we are also actively looking at community discussions and reviews to see how we can further balance the game. We’re aware that some enemies currently take too little damage at high posture, as well as riposte being very strong right now. We are looking into the best ways to address this.

If you encounter any other bugs on your journey through Ire, please leave your bug report on our dedicated reporting thread here. We are monitoring these issues and will continue to fix as many issues as we can.

You've defeated Morio, the Man-Eater, in the Steam Demo for Morbid: The Lords of Ire...now many other abysmal acolytes await you in the land of Ire. We're excited to introduce you to Baki—one of the most grotesque bosses you get to face in Morbid: The Lords of Ire.

Emperor Baki became the decadent despot of the Rotten City, Dunghaven. With the riches of his people, Baki built himself a pompous palace where he would live a lavish life of luxury and sin, while his subordinates toiled in abject poverty.

The weaknesses of the democratic system had always engendered despotic desires in the twisted mind of Senator Baki. With the five factions on the verge of war, he presented a motion to elect him as the wartime leader for Dunghaven. But being the rotten egg of a man that he was, Baki's proposal was cast aside by his colleagues.

While the senate laughed him out, the Gahars approached Baki with a solemn proposition. They promised to make him the sole ruler of Dunghaven if he would lend his flesh to the devious deities. Baki agreed, and a deal was struck.

Once the pact was sealed, the river coursing through Dunghaven suddenly seized to flow. This turned the all-important waterway into a cesspool of stillwater through which no ship could sail. The ensuing panic allowed Baki to again express his willingness to take the lead and this time the senate acquiesced.

Baki rose to power as the tyrant of Dunghaven and soon after abolished the senate. With the Gahars on his side, the self-proclaimed emperor plunged the port into a maelstrom of misery and death. The formerly democratic township fell, and its people became slaves to their new decadent despot.

Baki is a very fast-paced and melee-heavy boss—he has a broad repertoire of attacks that allows him to engage from anywhere in the Arena. Against Baki, positioning is vital. Well-timed evasive dodge rolls as well as evasive dashes whilst using a long-range weapon may just be your best bet against him.

We've come a long way since Morbid: The Seven Acolytes and our first demo release, but you can finally explore all of the grim world of Ire and take on all five of the fearsome bosses in Morbid: The Lords of Ire, out tomorrow!

In the last dev diary, we delved deep into the combat of the game. This month, we will hear about the music. Simo Talasranta, the court composer of Still Running, has written and produced the fully orchestrated original soundtrack of Morbid: The Lords of Ire. Hear from him, how the score of the game has more to it than meets the ear.

The soundtrack of Morbid: The Lords of Ire has been composed using an interconnected network of leit motifs (musical themes). In addition to the Acolytes having their own themes, the game has three main motifs that present themselves in various rhythmic, harmonic, and instrumental combinations throughout your journey.


A good example of the interconnected themes is the music in Hall of Redemption, which not only introduces all three main motifs, but also hides within its melody a phrase from each of the Acolytes’ themes. In other words, the music of the hub area subliminally sets up your entire journey, before you’ve barely embarked on it.


For the most part, the soundtrack utilizes the instrumentation of a traditional symphonic orchestra accompanied by a choir. However, since the game is set across several realms with different cultures, some tracks take a steady step into the domain of fusion music, combining oriental, tribal, and even electric instruments into the mix.


In Morbid games, the epic boss tracks have always been—and are still—the most prominent part of the score. They draw a stark contrast between the haunting desolation of the world, and the sudden piercing terror of the ungodly encounters therein.

Additionally, each Acolyte’s theme is carefully foreshadowed throughout the preceding level, so that once you reach the ruler of the realm, the thematic power of the boss music hits you that much harder.


Throughout the game, the three main motifs are prevalent, hidden in almost all the tracks. But only at the very end do they reach their full potential. In the final battle of the game, the three main motifs collide, playing perfectly on top of eachother, concluding your journey in a fierce storm of the three melodies.


Morbid: The Lords of Ire Original Soundtrack will be released on Spotify and other music platforms together with the game’s release on May 17th 2024.

Last month, we introduced some of the weapons and the four melee combat styles you can experience. This month, we will show you the main types of player movements you get to use in the game and how the combat has grown through the game’s development in Morbid: The Lords of Ire.

In Morbid: The Lords of Ire, combat is fluid like a dance - by keeping active, you can get the most out of combat and kill more enemies with ease. By timing your blocks and attacks, you are able to reserve more stamina and fare better in your battle against evil.

Swing your weapon to perform a range of combo attacks. Combos are different depending on your weapon class and wielding style.

When an enemy becomes Enraged it cannot be staggered. When you encounter a raged enemy, perform a Rage Breaker attack to break through before they regain their posture.

When an enemy hit is about to land on you, parry the strike and perform a brutal counterattack. It is important to keep in mind that some powerful attacks cannot be parried.

It is important to note that, while blocking, your stamina regenerates at a slower rate. However, perfectly timed blocks restore Stamina, impact enemy Posture, and also rebound most projectiles.

Once enemy posture is gone, you can perform a Critical Blow on the staggered foe.
This deals enormous amounts of damage and is often lethal. This move also fully restores the Striver’s stamina bar. In some situations, you may choose to use the Spectre Blaser instead to deliver the Critical Blow.

Sneaking allows the player to approach tougher encounters discreetly, and possibly gain the upper hand with a powerful backstab. A successful backstab takes away a lot of posture and health, and in some cases, when the posture is fully drained, it outright kills the enemy on a single hit.

The Spectre Blaster is attuned for staggering foes, rather than dealing damage. It is a supporting tool for melee combat with which one can interrupt dangerous attacks. The Spectre Blaster holds a single slug and can be reloaded by slaying an enemy.

Dash allows you to make a quick evasive move in any direction. This move is good for dodging smaller attacks and gaining an advantage during combat as it uses less of the Striver’s stamina.

Perform a Dodge Roll to avoid larger attacks. The player is invulnerable while dodge rolling, and although you can dodge a greater distance, it will cost you more stamina.

This move is earned separately through a Blessing. You can Lunge Attack from a dodge roll, which allows for the evasive manoeuvre to be used as an offensive move.

We have come a long way since our previous release, Morbid: The Seven Acolytes, and want to thank everyone who has played the demo and given us feedback, which we are constantly reading through.

Whilst we appreciate all the souls-like fans, it’s important to note that we’re not trying to represent a souls-like game but a more fast-paced hack-and-slash action game with souls-like elements. Morbid: The Lords of Ire is continuously under development and we will keep making the combat in our game the best it can be!

And lastly, we thought we’d show you some behind-the-scenes shots of the motion captures taken by the developers at the Still Running studio. Almost every animation you see in-game is created in real life using motion capture (and yes, that is the CEO of Still Running stumbling around)...enjoy!
