I was so excited for this game only to find out how poorly it was optimized. No matter how you switch your options there is always a constant fps drop. Pretty unstable. Not to mention the inconvenient single save system, which combined with their buggy game contributed to a whole day of gaming lost.

I think this is one of the biggest wastes I’ve ever seen for a game…

Honestly, it's quite a unique game. It has excellent qualities, but unfortunately, major flaws always seem to tarnish the experience.
For example:

(+) The combat system is incredible:
There are plenty of classes, each with specific, dynamic, and highly varied gameplay. You can easily switch between them to mix things up. Combine that with your three pawns who accompany you, and it offers a huge variety of strategies and some truly epic battles at times.

(-) But for what?
You end up fighting the same goblins and cyclopes over and over. The game has extremely limited enemy variety. It doesn’t do its combat system justice. There are only nine types of enemies and 16 bosses or large monsters, which is far too few for an open-world ARPG. After just 20 hours of gameplay, I already felt a strong sense of repetition. Some monsters also lack distinct strategies or behaviors, making them feel very similar.

(+) A beautiful map and great atmosphere:
The world is visually appealing, with a strong sense of adventure and variety. It’s energizing and makes you want to embark on epic journeys. I feel like in the frieren anime being a powerfull mage getting a incredible advanture

(-) Weak quest design:
Unfortunately, this falls apart due to quests that lack engagement. About 90% of them boil down to: "Someone has a problem (missing person, lost object, monster to eliminate). Help us!"
You wander around for 30 minutes, talking to random people to gather information, then head to the designated location—usually a cave—kill everything inside, and return to hear: "Thank you, brave hero. Here's your reward." No surprises, no creativity, no effort in the writing—it feels like generic MMO quests.

(-) What’s up with the pacing?
Exploration is frustrating because every two minutes, a group of enemies attacks you. It’s impossible to enjoy the world properly when you’re constantly interrupted.

(-) Technical issues:
The game is a technical disaster. I had to heavily rely on mods just to get it running somewhat properly. The optimization is abysmal—it’s almost impossible to achieve 60 FPS with decent graphics. Really, Capcom? What happened? Monster Hunter: World runs better and looks much prettier.

(+) Intriguing main storyline:
The main story starts off interesting.

(-) But quickly loses steam:
The intrigue fizzles out as quickly as it begins, and the main quest can be completed in about five hours.

I have a strange feeling that I just played a very good demo or an alpha version of an incredible new ARPG.

But unfortunately, this is the real game...
I don’t know what happened, but it feels like Capcom abandoned this game.

I've waited a long time for this game. The world is beautiful. The art style is wonderful. The gameplay is slightly worse than Dragons Dogma:Dark Arisen due to slower traversal, but that's just my personal preference. The combat is just as engaging and the new classes add a lot of variety to the game.

My main gripe with this game is anti-cheat on a single player game. I understand banning players for modding a multiplayer game, but this has no multiplayer. You can't ruin the gameplay for others with mods on a singleplayer game. Only reason its there is so that they protect their microtransactions. In games like Monster Hunter: World, where there are microtransactions but they don't impact the game, I had no issues with them. I even purchased a few haircuts. But this game took it too far. Not that the individual microtransactions are egregious, although they don't actually add anything to the game, but the big issue is they INSTALLED ANTICHEAT ON A SINGLE PLAYER GAME.

Back to gameplay. The grey health mechanic is changed from the last game in a way that is not to my taste, I'm not a fan of only healing it at camps and inns, but again, personal preference.
My problem with it: if you die, you are loaded back to your last save. With a penalty to your MAX HP. The grey health carries over through save/load. So if you're in a spot where you're against a tough enemy and you just barely lose but saved right before it, you are at an even further disadvantage on your next attempt.
Also fall damage also adds grey health, so you get punished for trying fun parkour.

As for the length of the game, I dont mind, simply because the allure of Dragons Dogma is the open world. Which is gorgeous and has a good amount of content if you just explore.

My final verdict on this game is that its a good game handicapped by corporate greed.
If you took the time to read all of this, just know that at its core it is a good game. I just can't recommend it in good conscience due to inconveniences added to it for the benefit of the microtransactions. Its not the worst game for it, but I don't want this to become the new norm for single player games, too.
