Quetzal is one of those games that just feels incredible to play. The movement is tight, smooth, and ridiculously responsive, making every dash, leap, and fireball + thunderspike climb feel effortless (when you get it right). It reminded me a lot of Hollow Knight, not just in how precise it is, but in that flow state you hit when everything clicks.

But Quetzal isn’t just about fast reactions. Some sections feel more like a puzzle, where you have to pause, rethink your inputs, and really plan your approach. It’s not just about pressing buttons quickly—it’s about understanding the rhythm of the level and figuring out how to move through it. The level design is fantastic, but World 2 and the final two bosses were real highlights for me.

I finished it in two days of uninterrupted gameplay, constantly telling myself just one more try—only to look up and realize an hour had flown by. It’s got everything I love about platformers, and it ended up being the perfect way to spend my spring break.

For a small indie game, Quetzal feels like a true labor of love. Every level, its art, every mechanic. All crafted with such care, and you can tell. If you’re into movement-heavy platformers that demand precision but feel amazing when you master them, this one’s absolutely worth playing.
